Hey all,
I'm taking the AC out of my Eagle and have purchased a non-AC mounting bracket for the alternator. My question is, do I need to remove the large cast bracket that the AC compressor was sitting on? How does the non-AC alternator bracket bolt to the engine with AC removed?
May sound like a silly question, but I don't want to remove too much if I don't have to. Pics would be appreciated.
Too lazy for pics.
that bracket for the ac comes off. the alt has its own bracket thing.
Well duh lazy! :rotfl:
Just kidding. Alright then, I will take the big cast bracket that the AC sat on out of there and figure out how the non-AC bracket bolts in.
Thanks.
I can pic it later before i go to work this evening if i think of it
You could always leave the AC pump installed and do the simple On Board Air conversion. It's nive to use an impact wrench on the side of the road from time to time.
Gronk, that is an eggscelent idea! I had thought about an air setup like that but this AC compressor is no good. When it was still hooked up I energized it and the thing sounded like it was growling and singing at the same time. Kind of like my husky when he wants in from the cold, but meaner. :o
The AC system on my car was totally depressurrized and empty. A couple of the hoses are in rough shape as well and I think they let water in at one time. Without any gas in system and an air leak or two, it was death on the compressor.
It was cheaper to order the non-AC bracket after that then mess around with finding another compressor. Maybe on the next one!
Thanks MudKicker! I appreciate the thought.
The non-AC brackets are weak and tend to crack.
Cannot imagine how it would crack
kind of hard to get a decent pic

That's perfect! Thanks MudKicker. I can see exactly how the bracket goes now.

They crack off around the nut in the first pic and if you have the wrong bolt in the slider on #2, they crack there too. No rear bracing and the belt pulls them in a twisting motion .
