It's a deal too good to pass up...
2-door, 304 V-8, freshly painted, new tires, completely solid.
This thing is gorgeous... just gotta talk $$$ with the owner now...

Nice find! Great looking car!
Wicked
It's not perfect, it has some dings here and there. It actually has a few dents (went through a hail storm I've been told), and the vinyl roof is really weathered and peeling in places. Other then that, I can't find anything else wrong with it.
And my my, it sounds AMAZING... true dual exhaust, headers, edelbrock 4bbl carb, with glasspacks... oh my
It looks great. I've always been a fan of Orange! I could tell the top looked a little worn. Other than that it looks great. Bummer about the hail damage...right after a fresh paint job!
What's with the pedals and stuff under the steering wheel? Was it setup for someone that couldn't use there legs?

Yes, the current owner is handicapped; Paralyzed from the waist down. Cool contraption... You push the lever for the brake, and pull down for the gas. Pretty cool idea for the less fortunate so they can still have fun with cars.
 I want one of those in the worst way, awesome looking car!
Way cool! Happy for ya and way to go.
Thats a nice looking car!
DROOL!!!!!!! I'm jealous (again)!!!
Thanks for all of the great comments!
By the way, I forgot to mention that it is a '76. Pretty good shape for a Hornet...Especially when they were known to rot out so easily...
Just got done talking with the owner today. I bought it! It's officially mine...
I took it for a test drive...... Words can't describe it, with the dual exhaust and glasspacks.... It was a blast driving... And turning heads everywhere! I can't wait to get this thing home and registered in my name!
Looks amazing. I would have bought one this past month but space is a premium right now and I'm constantly being badmouthed about my Eagle.
Was your Hornet made in the Kenosha plant?
Nice find! Ready for the shows as it looks.

I think we should demand a video on you tube (or where ever) of the car, and you driving around, and lots of pics.
We can't wait to see it in action. So hurry up, and get that car registered!!!

Yes it was! All AMC's were made in the Kenosha plant in Wisconsin until 1983. Then they moved the productions of the Eagles and so forth to Canada, and the Renaults were made in the Kenosha plant starting in 1983.
Looks great, Robert! Very desirable color combo and an unusual 2-door to boot! And then there's the V-8 too!
I had a 73 Gremlin that was "Trans Am Red" but was really more orange, very similar to yours. They had probably changed the name of the color or deleted it altogether by 76 though, but your color definitely does grab the eye whatever it is. Glad it found a good home!

Just a correction, there was definitely AMC production in Canada prior to 1983. In fact my dad's '73 Gremlin had the maple leaf sticker on the driver's door, and a 700,000 VIN. Great looking Hornet BTW, I'm looking for a hood badge like that one if you have an extra!
A good running 304 is no slouch. I bet the car moves pretty good... :amc:

I don't plan on modifying the car, other than what has already been done to the engine. I do plan on maybe putting in a better radio and speakers (if I could hear them anyways lol >:D ) Otherwise...nope. She'll be mostly all stock.
Got the car home today. ...I also got it licensed and insured today ;D So she's ready to go!!!
I decided to take a video to show the car a little better...and a little bit more... lively lol.

It hauls...I haven't driven it enough to know for sure, but I think it's the fastest car that I own... Maybe even faster than my Jeep.
There's so much space between the pedal and the floor...and I have never went past 1/2 way down...and it hauls. To be honest, I'm kind of afraid to floor it... But I'm going to haha >:D
But really, there is soo much space between the pedal and the floor... I can fit the front part of my shoe up to the laces under the pedal (I wear size 16 shoe :o)... Yea,
that much room lol.
Oh man!! That thing is georgeous Robert!! Congradulations.

Music to my ears! Even better than Led Zepplin!!
Seems a bit quicker than stock.
From what I found they run 10-12s stock 0-60 / 16.8-17.9 1/4 mile for a 304 car.. Your seemed to be about 9-10 seconds, with some wheel spin. So a decent launch you should be able to hit low 9s/mid-high 8s no problem.
I looked some up for fun and most of the ones I found are auto.
Did AMC not put a manual in it, or were they just mostly ordered as auto?

I guess those upgrade to the engine must really help it for horsepower. I also looked a bit closer to the carb, and found out that it isn't an Edelbrock carb, but a Holley. I don't know what cfm, but some performance Holley carb.
And good question about the manual...I know that in '77 you could order an AMX with a 304 and manual...So you'd think they'd also have it available the year before? Good question...maybe someone else will chime in here lol.
Great video's, good catch that car! I don't think we could find something like that here in Europe.
Today was a cleaning day for my Hornet. I vacuumed and cleaned the entire car, just still have to give the car a good wax job.
Took some more pictures. I realized I didn't have any pictures of the engine, so I took a couple. I also did some cosmetic work, and took some pictures of that. Enjoy.

Here's a question for you guys...
Can you think of a name for my Hornet?
My mom calls it the "Orange Bomb," and I have been calling it the Horn"E"Hornet :rotfl:
Tangerine?
Agent Orange. (Yes I know that was a horrible weapon, on all counts, this is more leaning towards the red hornet in the Bond movie, hence agent, then car color).
I've had a few names used for an orange car I had.
Agent Orange like Shaggimo said.
Orange Crush, my younger cousin called it that because it reminded her of the pop.
Project Orange is what I called it when I was working on it.
Some other decent one's I've heard are
Juice[d] for an orange drag Chevelle
No Pulp for a V6 orange Mustang, because it made under 200HP.
Clockwork Orange for a friend of mine's orange Porsche, based off two parts. One A Clockwork Orange is one of his favourite books, and two he said 'like clockwork' something always goes wrong with it.
My dad had a Cutlass that everyone called "the Orange Peel" although I have no idea why.. it wasn't even orange haha.. and it didn't refer to the orange peel effect on paint.
Vitamin C

I absolutely hated the steering wheel that was on the car. So plain and just down right ugly...especially for a muscle car! :P
So since I'm not driving my Concord right now, I thought that I would take the steering wheel I put on there on my Hornet. I'm a big fan of the hotrod steering wheels, with the three holes and three spokes...I think they look friggin sweet! And boy does it make driving "Orange Tang" ;) that much sweeter... 8)
Take a look...what do you guys think?

She's comin along... still have to fix an exhaust leak somewhere on the car. The smell of exhaust is almost unbearable when driving. Makes me sick if I drive the car long enough. I'm going to do a smoke bomb check and hopefully that helps me find where this dang leak is coming from.
New steering wheel looks much better, but I think I would have kept the hand controls! :)
I just fixed a leak on the exhaust of my Turdola (Grub). They have some really neet stuff in a metal can (looks like car wax) that is the consistancy of ketchup. You glove up and smear it liberally over the pipe or muffler or seam or whereever your leak is at. Overnight it hardens like concrete and becomes permanent. It was 3 or 4 dollars for the can at O'Reilly's.
"Orange Tang", I like it!
Like the new wheel!Looks like its it belongs there. Much much better then the original wheel!!
That thing just looks plain fun to drive...sounds good, looks good, and that v8 rumble is a recipe for awesome....and tickets :police: you really got a sweet amc there Robert.
Thanks for the nice comments! :)
But now work is going to come to a halt, I've got tendenitis in my right thumb and wrist. :( Gotta take a rest and let it heal before I can do anymore.
I'll be back to work on it and posting more pictures as soon as I feel better. :)

You gotta take this Hornet to Cordova this year for the AMC weekend. Bring a pair of slicks with you and see how your times are. That could be a great deal of fun.

Ironically, (I believe) AMC never sold or had any dealers in Bangkok.
Was curious about that...the scene looked filmed in a foreign country...thought it odd that there was an AMC Dealership.

I believe the price is fair, concerning how many there are in Europe in general. 7,500 Euros equals ~$12,500...? I think it's correctly priced IMO.
Yes, that is a pretty rare car in Europe, price is not to bad (for Europe) at about $10.000.
