Title: Substitute Instrument Cluster
Post by: vangremlin on March 24, 2012, 08:09:25 PM
I've been playing around with the 87-91 Ford F150 tach as a replacement for the typically defective Eagle tach.  I think that its going to work pretty well, and I really like the light up needle.  Which got me wondering if the other instruments in the cluster would fit.  So I picked up a 1990 Ford F150 instrument cluster at the junkyard today, and I think it has potential.  Physically, I think the fit will be pretty easy.  Now all I have to figure out if the gauges will work with the Eagle, how to make the speedometer work since the connection is different, add turn signal indicators....piece of cake lol.

Here is a mock-up of what it might look like.

The fuel gauge may not work as the ohms scales differ.

That would be cool, but I would be happy with just the tach. If I had one!

Yea, this may be a non-starter before I ever get started lol.  Amazingly, I think the oil sending unit may be the same on the Fords as on the Eagles.

If you're interested I can pick up a Ford tach for you next time I'm at the junkyard.
