'82 Eagle wagon with 258 and 4 speed. Rear diff is long gone. Figure it's probably a NP119 (haven't seen the car in person. My buddy is working for me to get the Spirit I was building and he's getting the wagon for parts from his grandparents that they bought for parts for the one they had) Second gear is no good, so I figure it's probably an SR4 and not a T4, but I could be wrong. Hoping the front diff is 3.07, but I guess unless someone here has one, I won't know for sure till I get in there. It was a CA car if that helps.
I am betting on 2.35 ...
The standard gear ratio for all 6 cylinder stickshift SX4s and station wagons was 2.35. The chances of it being anything else is very slight.
The SR4 has reverse up and to the left of first. The T4 has reverse down and to the right of third.
My 81 I owned with a 4 speed and 6 cylinder had a 2.35 ratio.
My 85 wagon with 258 and T-5 has 2.73:1 - needs 3.08s. : )
The 83 Wagon I had briefly was a 258/T5 & it had 2.73's I still have a pic somewhere of the tag off the front axle, I pulled the tag to read it as that was the least work, and the least expensive(didn't have to re-fill the rear axle) I actually liked the way that one felt to drive, but I'm putting 3.08's in the SX4
In 82 the 3.08 was optional, the 2.73 was standard with the T-4 or T-5, and the 2.35 was standard with the (wide ratio, lockup) 998. Of course any ratio normally offered could be ordered.
82 should also be stop-and-shift.
Did the 3.23 ratio ever get used? If not, then I have a 3.54 or similar non-vac front diff (different rig)
I turned the pinion and watched both axles spin (at the same rate) 3+ turns each.

You could have the rare '81 3.31 axle. That's 43:13 on both the front and rear.
I bet that's what it is then since it didn't go 3.5 turns
