Gronk has mentioned a couple of times of the benefits of swapping to a heater fan motor from a Chevy Blazer. I came across this "How To" for installing it in a Jeep, it may have some good info if you're planning to do the swap on an Eagle also. Good luck!

I just got a heater motor for a 1984 K5 Blazer, but it is completely different than the Eagle motor. The mount is not round, the blower cage is much deeper than the Eagle, the motor sticks a ways into the heater box, so even if I use the original cage, it would stick out much farther than original.
Any ideas? The jeep page says to use a motor from a 1973 Blazer. I haven't tried this yet.
I could use some more exact information.
It costs me $50 in postage to get a heater motor to Norway, so I'd rather not try too many times.

Definitely '73 to '82 WITHOUT A/C!
Just did this swap in my YJ, havent tested it(still finishing engine swap), but the 73-82 Blazer(nonAC) blower motor has much larger magnets and windings than stock Jeep, which is the same size/shape as my '82 SX/4's blower. I had to enlarge the hole on the firewall for the motor with an air-saw, but a small die grinder cutoff disk could to the trick, too. Paint the cuts! If its a good swap/mod, I'll do it on the Eagle when it needs a heater core(hopefully never, banking on never at the rate I'm working on getting it finished up.).
Ok, now I've tried it with a motor from a '73 Blazer. First problem, the new motor rotates the wrong direction. And, the mount is different. I could make a spacer/adaptor, but see little point since the motor runs the wrong way.
Has anyone out there actually done this to an Eagle? Gronk has done them to Jeeps, but they are apparently not the same.
Easy fix, take the leads out of the connector, and reverse them, and whoolah, it will spin the other direction :hello2:
It's a single wire blower motor. The whole case is ground. If I insulate it with a spacer I could make the wire ground and the whole case positive.

Isn't that only the case in AC voltage 3 phase motors ??

Nope. DC reverses polarity. I just had fun when I took my power window motor apart. I tried it before bolting it to the door and it worked backwards! There is a universal fan motor that has reversible leads, but I think XJ fans turn the same way
I had a look at my Eagle, and it has a different blower motor mounting flange than the YJ, so the Blazer motor "upgrade" isn't for our Eagles. Can post a comparison pic for any naysayers.
Teaser: The blower motor looks similar to the one in my FSJ, though. It is probably the same part, and not an "upgrade" to a bigger blower motor, like the Jeep YJ/CJ to Blazer motor swap. I'll take a closer look sometime soon.
Nice try, yall. Good idea to have a look into an upgrade if you have the heater core out, although it looks like the Eagle blower motor can be replaced without blowing the dash apart, ie, it looks like it can be removed from under the hood. On the YJ/CJ, you have to pull the entire heater core/ducting housing to get at the blower motor, so when doing a heater core, its a great time to have a look at a newer blower motor on those Jeeps. YJ/CJ owners note, the Blazer motor upgrade requires you to enarge the blower motor hole in the firewall!
