Title: Back in the fold!
Post by: Ohio AMX on January 23, 2012, 10:34:48 AM
I was a member here until sort of dropping out after selling my last Eagle about 5 or 6 years ago. Too much other stuff going on I guess. But once you own an Eagle you know how it goes, it's just a matter of time until you have another one.

Some background, as a kid I was already an AMC fan when the Eagles came out and bought all of the magazines with an Eagle on the cover. My parents ordered a new 1980 wagon but grew impatient waiting for it, and eventually cancelled the order. However I was thrilled when they tried again the following year and finally purchased a new 1981 Kammback.

Ten years later I found an Eagle of my own on a local used car lot. It was a 5-year-old Sport wagon with about 43,000 miles as I recall. It hadn't received the best of care but it still cleaned up pretty well:

That was followed by an '84 wagon, an SX/4 parts car, an '85 wagon and a bunch of other AMC's of every description. Finally I purchased a 1982 2-door sedan as a daily driver.

After driving it for a couple of years and keeping it as clean as possible, I decided that it deserved a better life and shipped it off to The Rambler Ranch in Colorado.

That left me without an Eagle until one that was advertised here called out to me:

I test drove it and closed the deal yesterday, now I just have to pick it up. I seriously considered driving it the 6 hours home but decided it would be safer sitting on my car trailer instead. But anyway, I'm back!  :hyper:

Welcome back!  You're certainly not the first to find out that selling your Eagle(s) leaves you with an itch that needs scratching, and eventually you get another.

Is that the one which was advertised as a movie car?

Love that old blue one you had. Shame you sold it. The coupe was really nice too.

I traded in the blue wagon on a new 5.0L Mustang LX. I haven't seen it since as I'm sure the dealership sent it right to the auction.   :(

Looks like it'll be a fun project to fix up.

Yesterday I finally received the Eagle that I bought in January! To make a long story short before I could return to eastern PA with my trailer I received an email from the director of Mount Joy, the movie featuring the Eagle, asking if it could be used to shoot a couple more scenes which were needed to complete the film. Of course I agreed and left the car in the care of Josh, its previous owner. The shoot was set for May, then pushed back a few weeks. But by the time they were finished with it I was way too busy to go pick it up. Finally I called the transport company that deliverd my white Hornet AMX a couple of months ago from New Mexico. A couple weeks later the Crapmobile is finally home in Ohio.

It seems we both have something in common.  I decided my '80 Turbodiesel Eagle needed a better life as well, so Terry at the 'Ranch has it.  He hopes to restore it and give it what I could not- ($)....Rich

Love the blue on black. My first car (Eagle SX4) was blue and black and I always liked it.

Maybe someday!!!

Here is the trailer for the movie which shows the Eagle a few times. Apparently it has a starring role in the film! I don't know when it will be released though.  http://www.mountjoymovie.com/trailer

that was about a year before it was sold to star in the big screen next to my old wagon that I had to leave in lancaster cause the chain of horrible events finally won in the form of a severly damaged transfercase

I'm glad it went to a member here. I was worried it would wind up getting scrapped.

Cool picture! I know it was purchased just to use in the film. Despite its ugliness it's a decent car which appears to be very solid underneath. I checked the frame and inner rockers and everything looks fine. I have already fixed a couple of things like regluing the back part of the headliner and replacing the right side headlight mount. I'll still need to replace a couple of outside door handles but I already have some spares.
