I just looked at the Eaglepedia for the TFI upgrade I did on my previous SX/4 with the 258. Now I've got an SX/4 with the Iron Duke. Does anyone have recommendations for doing the TFI upgrade on the 4 cylinder? Thanks!

If anything, it would be an HEI. It is possible that parts from most any later model Chevy with a 6 cyl would bolt right in. I am not sure if the V8 distributor is the same for a 4 cyl. If it is, then the possibilities are endless! There are many ignition options available for a Chevy V8.
The Iron Duke should already have HEI.
The Iron Duke is a GM engine and already has High Energy Ignition (HEI)
Sweet. Is there any use in upgrading any components, or is simple replacement going to be my best bet?
Got a pic of the dist? I wonder if they did GM or used a Motorcraft setup?
Now that its mentioned. The one 4cyl i saw was not hei.

There's always room for improvement. First you have find out which module is in there, 4, 5, or 7 pin. I'm not familiar with the 4cyl set ups, do these have ccc carbs? Either way they are upgradable, with more potent components.

Is it possible you saw an Eagle with the rare (for Eagles) AMC 2.5 engine?
As far as I know and checking in the TSM's the Iron Dukes used by AMC used that engine's HEI set up.
