We are going on our Eagle Motel trip this year! If anyone is interested in joining us I need to make the reservations early to make sure we get all the rooms. I am planning on the first or second weekend in October. I only do this trip every other year and we always have 30 Eagles and 40 plus people. It is always a good time!
Terry
Definitely sounds like a fun time and I hope I can make it.
I think that might be worth a drive from CA. There is enough notice that I think I could pull it off....Rich
count me in. Im only 25 minutes away from there so Ill be there no matter what!
I'm in. Sounds like a great time. I'm down for a room too so keep me posted. I think my son would have a blast. Wife might sit this one out ;)
Where is this located?
Did you know you can google anything. haha

Umm, yeah, but where is the Eagle motel?
Manitou Springs, CO
I'd love to go again, unfortunately, I have to choose between this event or the Wyoming meet. I can only make one cross country trip in the fall.

Maybe the dates can be close enough together so us long distance travelers can do both!
Me and gronk could push our eagles there there if we had to
I am in!
Its going to be a real treat to have so many Eagles so close to home.
I wouldn't miss this event for all the tea in China...I'm in! :eagle:
Right time zone, but alas just a little too far away for me.
That picture above just might be the only example of all five body styles (or six, if you're inclined to count the Sundancer as a separate body style) together in one shot.
Theres a sundancer in that picture!? Is it the black one next to the yellow coupe?

Yes, it appears to be the one on the driver side of the yellow car. I think with the exception of 3 or 4 of the cars, the rest belong to Terry (Rambler Ranch). He owns over 50 Eagles.
I'd love to participate and maybe get behind the wheel of my old '82 2-door again! Alas it's just too far for me to go this year. :-\
count me in

That's a LOT of Eagles!
If you look closely, you can see that they're parked in order of body style. First kammbacks, then SX/4s, two door sedans, four door sedans, and finally wagons.
I also love how the marquee says "The Eagles Have Landed". 8)

Didn't realize that, definitely something I'd like to try and see in person!

I was there and my old 81 wagon is in that pic. I didn't even realize they were in order. ::)
The coolest part about these meets is getting to put a face with the eagle.

i agree! i went to a meet a few years back at 80spiritgt's place and it was AWSOME and there was only a couple eagles there... i could only imagine what this one will be like!
Wow, that picture! I've never seen so many Eagles in one place. If this coincided with the Wyoming meet I'd probably have to make it!

Its usually in early October. They keep the motel open an extra week just to accomodate this gathering.
If the Eagle Motel fills up, there are other motels in the area. So don't dismiss the trip if you can't get a room there. Also, October is probably not a good month to hit some trails, depending on September's snow fall.
Coming from someone that has one of the biggest lifted Eagles on the nest that saying something!!! :)
Praf,
At least he realizes it...:)
There are times in life when "...discretion is the better part of valor..." I used to own a BUILT scout(Isuzu 3.9L NPR Turbo Diesel mated to a NV4500 thru a Dana 300) and I DO have a well done XJ with OxTrax lockers front & rear and a 4-1 Atlas T-case, either will/would climb anything short to true vertical, and there are places & times I'd never think of taking either of them
If the weather is good, a cruise on the Peak to Peak scenic byway would be an enjoyable drive. It takes you from Central City to Estes Park. It's a gourgeous drive.

that is an awesome drive.
Hey Guys the Eagle Motel trip is set for October 13th, we will meet at Rambler Ranch at 8am and leave for the Eagle Motel at 10am. Please email me your contact info at
[email protected] if you are planning to join us. I do not have all the activities planned yet but we always have a good time. There will be at least 30 Eagle's at the motel on Saturday night. We only do this every other year, I hope to see lots of Eagle Nesters this year!
Terry

As will I ...and hey guys...per request from my wife are your wives or gf's coming with you?
nashkid, email sent. :eagle:
I'll have to talk to my GF. I'm for sure going.
There is plenty of motels/hotels within walking distance of the eagle motel. After school starts you can pick up a room just about anywhere near there...and in most cases at a lower rate than during tourist season I grew up just a few miles from there and still live only 20 min. away. If anyone has any questions about other "nesting" sights I can answer any questions ya might have.

Would anyone mind if I slept outside in my Eagle in the parking lot? If nothing else, I would be there as "Security" , kind of like watching over the "Nest"(when not sleeping of course).
email sent...looking forward to this...
We came pretty close this week to not having an eagle motel...the Waldo canyon fire wiped out 18,000+ acres, 346 homes and claimed 2 lives in colorado springs, and darn near took out manitou springs....over 32,000 evacuees in the area...the whole area is pretty unrecognizable :'( ....it still burning albeit not as bad...Atleast the beloved Eagle motel will still be there for us this october. (http://i1208.photobucket.com/albums/cc377/shanebo79/cd28WALDOFIREsjpg_950_2000_0_75_0_50_50.jpg)
Good news. Would hate to see all that history get lost.
holy wow...close call indeed...good to hear that it was mostly houses and that almost everyone got out safe, but sad news at the same time...
a thought occurred to me as well, before i saw that -- i have leather seats in good shape that i would like to relocate to a loving eagle -- thread with pics is here (http://forums.amceaglenest.com/index.php?topic=37251.0) -- any reasonable offers will likely be accepted. figured i would post it here since there will be a lot of eagles in the same place and i wouldn't mind bringing them along for the trip if someone is interested.
I will need to pick up some freight in Denver, so I will be towing a trailer from CA. I will probably leave the loaded trailer in Denver, and join the group with just the car.....Rich
OK we are all set for the Eagle Motel / Rambler Ranch trip! I will have a tour of Rambler Ranch on Friday at what ever time works best for the group so you let me know what time you want. We will leave here on Saturday at 9:30am for lunch in Colodrado Springs then on to a tour of collectioon of cars and motor cycles then to the motel for check-in. Feel free to email me a
[email protected] if you want more infomation or have questions. You can also call me at 303-324-6750 cell or at home 303-646-1036 in the evening.
