Hey guys (and gals) my Eagle that I just bought has the factory for lights and they dont turn on. The switch has a light on it that doesnt turn on either. I was wondering if the fog lights were on their own fuse or they were tied into some other stuff. I looked at the wiring and it looks good Im kinda at a loss for ideas. Im not very electricaly inclined so any help would be greatly appreciated.... :help:

Check the fuse box first.

I took a peek but i didnt see any label for fog lights...I may have to pull each one. Im assuming it would be atleast a 10 or 15 amp...that narrows it down a bit. I looked at the eaglepedia and it shows a wiring diagram but its a bit beyond me...im pretty illiterate when it comes to electrical diagrams.

I just saw in one of maddogs posts about a mystery relay under the hood on the inside fender...that turned out to be for the fog lights...this may be a good place to start looking.

First thing to check is make sure your high beams are off - the relay is wired to turn off the fog lights when the high beams are on. Looking at the 1981 TSM wiring diagram (on the Accessories Diagram), it looks like there is a fusible link that runs from the relay to the battery feed, should be a red wire coming from relay (post #30). Good luck, here is a picture of the diagram.

I don't think they're original, but I have 2x6 KC Hi-Lites on mine that stopped working (including the dash light). Turns out the reflectors, which make up part of the lamp circuit, had rotted and turned to dust. Maybe take apart one of the lamp enclosures and check continuity?

I started to trace down wires last night when I thought my junction block behind the master cylinder was fried....turns out it only looks fried because of the black silicone that was gobbed on there from the factory....that was enough though to derail my efforts for the night...Ill be back out there tomorrow tracing down wires again.
