Well guys as alot of you know Im relocating to the "big city" and my 2 project eagles were given up to a new home. Im having to down size alot. I was not happy about having to get rid of half my rides including my trusty chevy truck. My wife insisted I get rid of it cuz of its size and gas mileage.. but this story has a silver lining....or should I say Silver with black and red lining 8) ...Vangremlin tipped me off to this SX4 a while back for sale in Loveland. I told myself if my truck sells before the Eagle does im going to buy it...cuz after all its technically downsizing ;D Long story short the truck sold and Im picking it up this week...Its about 150 miles/2.5 hrs away so Ill get to know her pretty good by the time I get home...My buddies following me with a tow rope though just in case but by what Ive been told its a daily driver with about 90,000 miles so she should be fine...I plan on doing a photo log of her maiden voyage home. Excellent Shane !! Or should I say eggcellent !! That is way cool, glad you picked up another eagle ride, and an SX/4 to boot. Looks in pretty good shape, good luck with the trip with it comeing home.
by the "big city" do you mean the springs or denver? oh and after you "get to know her" you've got to bring her down here so i can see her. >:D >:D
Great find there Shane. Well done. :hello2:
Looks way cool! Good for you my man!
Excellent score Shanebo! Glad it worked out for you!
It looks really sharp in those colours.
Thats awesome your geting it .I went and looked at it and it was really nice i was wanting to cheack out the spoiler on it because i just got one for mine.
Thanks guys! Im pretty jazzed about it...Its a manual 4 speed and I think its 4.2L I havent even seen it yet....bought it sight unseen...I guess I was too excited about getting the thing...It did just pass emissions so it must run ok...as long as it runs good ill be happy no matter which engine it has.
Hey amcman is that the car im buying in that picture? Ad is yours the one that was for sale up in denver a while back?
Maddog, Im moving to either colorado springs or fountain....I was wanting to move to Pueblo because most of my accounts are in pueblo, canon city, and all those out laying towns like lamar, rocky ford and la Junta...My wife refused to move to pueblo though...she said its too hot in the summer.
Yeah I thought you would like to see that ...I bought it in fort Collins a few weeks ago And I live in Loveland so I wanted to check it out.Glade you got it!!!
You are killing me! I have never even seen an SX4 in Florida. I just refuse to buy with only picters as neither of mine were what they looked like on film. Maybe I will get lucky at Mecum's in Kissimmee Fl at the end of Jan. If not I am going to try for a 1970 Chevelle.
Very nice my friend. Can't wait to see it in person.
the Red/Black and Charcoal / Black are the nicest on the SX4. End caps and all? You dirty rotten @%^*(+?
Im kinda kicking myself now for not grabbing more parts off the sx4's ive run across in junk yards. I did grab the rear end caps off one though so atleast I got those for a start.
You'll get to see it when you come get Ginger and Bluebird.
yeah does get pretty warm down here but it is nothing compaired to Oklahoma in the summer. oh and i forgot congrats dude that does look nice.
Ill have to cruise down to pueblo with it once it proves itself travel worthy.
right on dude. great now i sound like a bad 70's movie. :rotfl:
There were no bad 70's movies....just good and great ones :rotfl:
So when do I get to turn a wrench on her? I'll be in Westminster for Christmas and probablt for New Years if you want me to swap out the carb/ignition. I've already started building your kit so it's ready whenever you are.
Very nice Shane. I'd say that is my kind of downsizing.

I'll second that statement.
Looks like a good score! :occasion14:
Congrats! Looks like it was well cared for, looking forward to seeing more of it. Good luck moving, shoot me your address sometime.
Maybe after the new years we can get together Gronk. Ive got alot of stuff going on too. Maybe we could do it when you come to pick up your cars...If we got time that is, if not I could run it down to ya after I get it registered....I cant wait to see what kind of difference you upgrade makes.
It looks like my truck sold just in time too...I talked to the owner today to set up a time this week to get it and he said he got 4 or 5 calls on it since last week but luckily I was the first one to come up with cash....Thursday is the day I get to pick it up....I may even get to test out the 4x4 by the looks of the forecast.
if the weather in the springs is anything like it is here in pueblo today i would say yeah your going to need the 4 wheel drive.
Yeah Its pretty much a blizzard by me too.
yeah i was almost an eagle short about an hour ago when i went to go get my sister and cousin after they wrecked in my dads jeep. i'll be going tomarrow to find out the jeep is totaled or not.
Did they slide off the road?
they spun and hit a gardrail with the right side while going down highway 50.
yeah eveyone including the cat is allright and the jeep is a 94 to 96 cherokee so yeah a real jeep not a fake one so if it's totaled my dad said i could buy it and use it for parts. >:D >:D
Im glad they are all right maddog. Was it that cherokee that we were looking for a bumper for that day? Ive wrecked my dads ride before and it was not a fun conversation on my way home from the police department.
Do I hear 4.0 engine swap on survivor???
I was digging through my stuff today and I found a Spirit grill I think Im going to put on the car....It looks good in my head but Ill have to see what it actually looks like on the car...I think it will look good. I like the big emblem. (http://i1208.photobucket.com/albums/cc377/shanebo79/3830.jpg)
Well the grill doesnt really need an auxillary grill.
Ya never know when ya might want to have a bbq...good to keep one on hand at all times...I may convert the back seat into a keg cooler. :rotfl:
Looks like im getting it tomorrow!! just talked to the owner.

well the jeep only suffered some minor damage to the front and rear so it wont be a parts car.
Is it still driveable? Atleast theres a bunch of them around in junkyards and what not, you guys can rebuild it for fairly cheap...not like on one of these cars where you can find parts once in a blue moon....and if ya do they want an arm and a leg for them.
Heres some shots from my trip home...took the mountain roads to avoid policemen....NO TAGS. (http://i1208.photobucket.com/albums/cc377/shanebo79/3836.jpg) just before Denver (http://i1208.photobucket.com/albums/cc377/shanebo79/3833.jpg) some narrow little mountain pass (http://i1208.photobucket.com/albums/cc377/shanebo79/3834.jpg) (http://i1208.photobucket.com/albums/cc377/shanebo79/3835.jpg) (http://i1208.photobucket.com/albums/cc377/shanebo79/3836.jpg) Top of the pass (http://i1208.photobucket.com/albums/cc377/shanebo79/3837.jpg) about 50 miles from home Hayman Burn area (Colorados largest wildfire) (http://i1208.photobucket.com/albums/cc377/shanebo79/3838.jpg) (http://i1208.photobucket.com/albums/cc377/shanebo79/3839.jpg) 197 miles later im home (http://i1208.photobucket.com/albums/cc377/shanebo79/3843.jpg) (http://i1208.photobucket.com/albums/cc377/shanebo79/3840.jpg)
:blob1: :blob1: :blob1: :blob1:
Very happy for you friend.
Way to go Shane!!! I know you've been wanting an SX4 for awhile. Hopefully its good for at least 300,000 miles for you! Have an egg for dinner!
Glad you didn't get stopped man. Because I am sure they would of just taken the car away.
Here in NY, it is an automatic license revocation for a year , and big fines to boot.Plus the insurance Comapnies nail you hard too.Ask me how I know?? LOL I was young once.........: )
Looks like a nice ride, how did it do comeing home ??
it did great other than the vibration that started after 70 mph thats going to be a tricky one to diagnose...i hope its not somthing major.
I havnt gotten a good look at the underside as its been snowing like crazy i did take a picture of the underside and it looks to be ok i dont know whats under the side skirts but judging from the picture it should be ok...the interior is real good minus alot of dust and the remnants of an old sticker on the dash...all in all I think 2500 was a fair price. (http://i1208.photobucket.com/albums/cc377/shanebo79/3841.jpg) (http://i1208.photobucket.com/albums/cc377/shanebo79/3842.jpg) (http://i1208.photobucket.com/albums/cc377/shanebo79/3845.jpg) (http://i1208.photobucket.com/albums/cc377/shanebo79/3844.jpg)
In the picture the car was running so it shows correctly at idle...however it never goes over 2000 rpm...it bounces around a little a does wierd little things but I still say its more entertaining to look at than the digital clock. By the way, what the heck is that compressor lookin thing on top of the engine...is that a smog pump?????
It just passed emissions with flying colors in the county I bought it...I dont have them where I live so theres a good chance it might get lost in the near future.
that is one nice looking SX/4 shanebo.

If you just happen to "lose" those parts, make sure you know where to "find" them in case you move to an area with testing, they expand the testing area, some fellow nester may need them, or heaven forbid, you ever sell the car. Colorado used to allow 25 year old cars to get collector plates which meant you only had to pass the emissions test once when you first got your plates. Now only cars built in 1975 or earlier are eligible for collector plates, which means cars made since then are tested every year or two. Pepe is grandfathered in.
Great looking car shanebo I'd say you did well!
Dang, now I want an SX/4.... Before I was looking fo an Eagle, there were several for sale locally, all needing attention, but all under $1000. Now I can't fond one to save my life. Probably better that way, so far, the wife only knows about 4 of the 7 and shes not too thrilled as it is.
Luckily the guy just had the thing tested and it passed with a score better than alot of newer cars. He even gave me the test score parer work...I probably will leave the stuff on as long as its functioning properly. Im already having to move for work once if they relocate me again it could spell problems if its in a county that tests.
As for the car, I went out to move it this morning to move it so I could plow the drive way. All of the Eagles I have owned have been kinda cold blooded so I just assumed since it was -5 degrees out last night it wouldnt want to start...I pumped the gas twice, turned the key and it fired right up and went right to an even idol with no reving or anything to keep it going...I was impressed. Now if I can get this vibration thing squared away I might have a descent car on my hands.
Oh yeah I forgot to mention...I think I have a name for this car...Odie, or O.D. as in over drawn....ya see when I sold my truck through the consignment lot they cut me a check, which I bought "Odie" with...When I went to pay my gas bill today the nice lady informed me my card was declined....So I called the bank and that nice lady informed me that the check from Owners Auto Mart bounced...leaving me a cool $1300.00 in the negative after the bank seized the 700.00 I had in there. My wife was actually pretty cool about me getting the car but when she heard about our bank account she came unglued :angry9:...I often refer to her as my little pit bull for a reason...Im taking her down there with me tomorrow and Im going to turn her loose on em'
Yea that really sucks. At least it bounced after you picked up the SX/4! Oh and if you need some quick cash, sounds like GRONK is in the market for an SX/4 :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
I have a little pitbull myself. Actually, more like a chihuahua on crack. Meaner than heck.
I would be dead if she even caught me looking at a car right now.
Shanebo, if you need a safe place to keep OD, let me know. ;)
I sicked my wife on the guy today....HE CALLED THE policemen TO HAVE HER REMOVED.. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: .He gave us the money though! I feel kinda bad cuz it was a bank boo boo....Hes a pretty nice guy down there but he had my wife screaming at him so he got pretty mad. He told us he would cut us another check when the bad one came back in the mail...My wife wasnt having that though she demanded money now and "she wasnt leaving till we had it in hand"....It was a scene for the books for sure!! Any way now that every thing is back on track I took a few hours to clean up the interior. The hardes part was the armor-all kept freezing so it turned into more of a frosting than a shine It cleaned up nice though...the owner must have had a white cat though cuz there was white hair every where. (http://i1208.photobucket.com/albums/cc377/shanebo79/3860.jpg) (http://i1208.photobucket.com/albums/cc377/shanebo79/3859.jpg) (http://i1208.photobucket.com/albums/cc377/shanebo79/3853.jpg) (http://i1208.photobucket.com/albums/cc377/shanebo79/3857.jpg) (http://i1208.photobucket.com/albums/cc377/shanebo79/3856.jpg) (http://i1208.photobucket.com/albums/cc377/shanebo79/3854.jpg)
Looks mighty fine except for that white stuff on your hood! Don't care if I ever see that stuff.I know that was what the eagles were made for but!! Anyway nice eagle and I'm happy for ya. Merry Christmas and a Happy and safe New Year.
shanebo if i ever manage to get up there remind me not to make your wife mad. :rotfl:
I've met his wife, she seemed really nice to me!!

They always do, until company leaves.. ;D
Shes a 4' 8" italian girl...she looks real sweet but MAN does she have a temper!! I was pretty worried about bringing home the Sx4 but luckily it fell into the "cute" category so she gave it her blessing....Im not sure if I like the phrase cute to describe my car...bad :censored: is more what I had in mind but what ever....As long as Lisa's happy I can enjoy my Eagle in peace.

Shanebo, it might not EVER be a good idea for your wife and my wife to get together. EVER... We might not make it out alive you and me.
Hey Shane, I know there is a discussion going on in the "What did you to for your Eagle today?" thread about the T4, but I didn't want to hijack that thread too bad. Anyway, there is a Jeep T5 for sale in Ft Collins for $150, its on the Denver C-List, just search AMC under auto parts. Maybe you can tell your wife that's what you want for Christmas!

The SX/4
is cute! After owning an Eagle wagon I was so pleased to find Eagle's also came as SX/4's.
I wonder if that would be a a plug and play kind of thing or if would take some modification...I think tougeagle put one in his and if im not mistaken he had to do some stuff with the mount.....I may give him a call and see what he would charge to put it in for me....I was going to hire him to wire up my EFI but that projects a bust now. If anything I would like to have it on hand in case this one does break some day.
Replaced Odie's headlight buckets with some good ones I found in a junk yard a while back...she was looking a little cross eyed. also resprayed the faded black headlight and hood trim, it didnt turn out all that great cuz its a little too cold for the paint to set good, but its better than it was and Its easy to redo...also installed that Spirit grill I had...I think it looks descent and it almost has to stay cuz the grill that was on there is busted clean in half :-\ (http://i1208.photobucket.com/albums/cc377/shanebo79/124283.jpg) (http://i1208.photobucket.com/albums/cc377/shanebo79/124282.jpg) (http://i1208.photobucket.com/albums/cc377/shanebo79/124281.jpg)

I believe tougeagle's originally had a T5 that he swapped for a AX15.
Your right on that ammachine he did swap the t5 for an ax15
He did alot of fabrication to get it to fit in, I got the opportunity to see it just before he sold it.
Glad the SX/4 fell into the "cute" category. Even if I had an SX/4 I doubt my wife would ever refer to it as cute. My wife has never liked any of the AMC products.
I was pretty shocked myself. While she doesnt like it per say she thought it was cute, which was evidently good enough to keep her from blowing a fuse....I just found out that her brother had a hornet hatchback back in the early 80's and she had good memories of that car and this one kinda reminds her of it...Its a good thing he didnt have a ford back then or I would still be in deep :censored:.
That's funny. My wife just isn't a fan of any old cars unless it has a rumble seat. If I had more money and a bigger garage I'd love to find a project that fits that bill. But something affordable around here that she would like would need more work than I can do.
Hi. Matt here. I just moved to Kenosha WI. I was in a salvage yard here today and there were 3 Eagles there. A Kammback, a wagon, and a 2 door.
I just made the last payment today on a 79 AMC Pacer Limited Hatchback. 258 auto. It will be transported here to Kenosha next spring. 2012 is gonna be a fun year.
Excellent score on the SX/4 sport. Looks really nice. -Matt.
I love Kenosha...you think for being the home of AMC you would see more around up there but I guess the WI. winters and road salt has claimed the lives of most of em.
Took the old bird down to colorado springs to my buddy..about 30 miles one way. My buddy got the wild idea of going to a restaraunt up in denver...I was a little nervous but she handed the 220mile round trip pretty good....minus the vibration.
that vibration could be caused by a bad front half shaft.
Shane, is this MY SX/4 you are referring to. ;)
It certainly is!.... and I gotta tell ya Gronk...you really gotta do somthing about this vibration!!
Love this color on the Eagle.
Thanks Prafeston! Hopefully eventually shell get a fresh coat of the same color this summer. The paints not terrible but its pretty weathered.
Hey Shanebo, I was wondering.... Would you like to trade my SX/4 for one of your Eagle Wagons?
If so (and I really hope you are interested) when/where? ;D
I gotta admit Gronk Ive had my eye on that blue 86' ya got LOL :rotfl: :rotfl:
haha brother. I have your title friend.
Are you going to make it t Tri-State this weekend?
There needs to be a "GRONK Nest" thread so I can follow his flock, I don't even know what all ones he has anymore!

I'll be there!
Ive been dropping hints here and there with my wife....If the wethers nice id like to ride my bike up there....I know she would go if there was a motorcyle ride involved.
I havent posted much as far as my Eagle goes in a while...but then a gain I havent done anything with it for a while. I rescently got new tires, all the fluids flushe and changed bumper to bumper and coolest of all got the glass tinted.

Looking good Shanebo!
It really adds to the "cool" factor.....literally. being a non ac with a black interior it makes a huge differnce keeping the temp down...I think it gives the car a much sportier look too....if you live in a hot climate I would certainly recommend it.
Tinting a vehicle is one of the first things I do to a newly acquired vehicle. It's one of the easiest ways to improve the looks. Well done! It sits the grey very well!
