I got an email Thursday that my company wants me in Cleveland for a one day job. They wanted me to drive the 600+ miles Monday, work Tuesday and drive back Wednesday. I have family in Cleveland so I will be leaving Saturday instead. I would normally drive my Ford Festiva since it gets 40 MPG but it has a vibration issue at the moment so I'm driving the Eagle. I get 55.5 cents a mile so I will still come out ahead quite a bit. I'm leaving 5 am tomorrow morning. :eagle:
Have a good trip and keep us posted.
Enjoy the trip! Cleveland rocks!
On the road about 2 hours and stopped at Wafflehouse for breakfast. ;D
With a tick over 200 miles to go, I stopped in Lebanon, OH for lunch at Skyline Chili. I haven't had it for over 20 years and realize I wasn't missing anything. Back on the road.
Made safely to the hotel. I'm regretting my lunch choice though.
Well, we all hope it comes out well in the end! :rotfl:
Your trip I mean!

If you were on I-75 you passed within a mile of my house. If you would have more time you could have stopped and we could have had lunch.Sure would have been better than sky line chilli!I live in Anna.Oh.

That sounds terrible. What does it taste like?
Weird is the only way I can describe it.
Eagleman, I came through 71 but I guess 71 and 75 merge for a bit.
The reason for coming to Cleveland was for a little radiation training. The company I work for does Geophysical and Hydrophysical logging. We typically test wells to figure out the geological make up of the well and what fractures water is coming from in the well typically for environmental reasons. However they also can use some of the probes for concrete density testing aka gamma gamma testing or logging. We are going to be testing some drill shafts for a bridge next year and the state required the contractor to make some samples so we can calibrate the equipment. It uses a radioactive source that screws into the probe. The probe has a detector that sends back the info to the computer in counts per second. Being a carpenter for 20+ years, this is all rocket science to me.
Source protected in a container.

Probes are about 3' long

Computer with remote winch and electronics box which sends the info to the computer.

I'm going to check out the Rock and Roll hall of fame today since most of my relatives are working today and the weather is crappy.
Back home. Drove the 613 miles home in 9.5 hours with only getting out of the car once for gas and a restroom break.
You're tough. You also haven't yet realized one of the benefits of reaching more "mature' years. You will some day be privileged to visit more scenic areas such as restrooms.
Thanks for sharing this with us. I'm glad it went so well.

My dad is 77 and I have been on road trips recently with him and know exactly what you are talking about. ;D
