Some of us remember when Lincoln did the designer series in the late seventies..bill blass, cartier, givenchy etc....I just found out the Hornet Sportabout was available in a Gucci inspired package in the early 70's....I know its not an Eagle but its a close ancestor. anyone here ever seen one?

No, but sure would like to have one. I can almost smell the seventies.
AMC teamed up with Gucci, Pierre Cardin and Levi's to design some interiors.

Those Gucci seats remind me of seats you'd find in an old pizza shop. I just don't see those colors going quite right in any interior. Everybody has their own opinions but if they were in my car they would be for sale, they don't even look comfortable.
The Levi interior, on the other hand would be awesome. I have yet to see one in good original condition yet, most of the ones I see that had the Levi's interior didn't have the original seats anymore, i'm guessing denim doesn't last 30 years in the hot interior of a car.

Strangely enough I do agree with that, the color scheme is (now) so uncool, that (for me) it becomes cool again.
I'seen the Pierre Cardin interior in a Javalin/AMX , O wait it was mine !! LOL, the exterior was "plum Crazy", I should of never got read of it, but it was before I got smart or older? maybe both : ). My friend had a white one with the same interior.

Don't forget the Oleg Cassini Matadors.

That looks very 70s.. hah
Nothing says excees like the 1970's! I really like that pierre cardin interior it is so over the top its down right awesome. Things sure got bland in the 80's though....atleast in the auto industry.
Wow! I like the ones in the first pic. I was thinking of brown instead of green, cream instead of white and orange instead of red. That would fit very well in my color scheme for what I have planned.
is it all that different than some of the Ford's run? I think the same "Interior" designer left to Ford cause they have the Bauer edition, The King Ranch, and Harley davidson. BTW AM General stole the "Hummer" name from Harley **Snicker** anyway, this really is a matter of history repeating it's self.
maybe if i can find one with gucci i can get the old lady interested in them too :rotfl:
Both of my 78 AMXs have the Levis Interior in great shape! I found a guy who is helping me to 'restore' the door panels as they are denim too and a little rough!! Wish more cars had came with that option!!

Thats coincidence. HUMVEE is a military acronym that got shortened to hummmer in normal conversation. Arnold Schwarzenger put alot of pressure on AM General to sell a civilian version, which they eventually did with the modified name.
I would love to see pictures of the levi interior!
I'm sure the name for the Harley was a spelling mistake.
Originally it was (what a) Bummer ;)

I did have a '77 Pacer with the Levi interior right down to the Levi tag sewn into a seam on the seat. It was nor real denim but auto fabric that looked like denim. As an added bonus there was a Levi emblem on the side of the car.
I would love to get my hands on one of those Levi AMC's.....especially an amx.
Hey Shane,
I actually know where one is - Just east of Red Deer (Alberta) at a AMCA member's place. It's been sitting in a field up there. it's a gremlin with Levi's interior.
Too bad huh? He's got several dozen AMC's sitting out there, just rotting.
Figures...all the good ones are always thousands of miles away!
... and sitting in a field rotting! That kills me :banghead:
Yeah that kind of thing makes me not sleep well at night, knowing there's something so rare and wonderful just rotting away in fields all over the place. But like it's already been said before, we can't save them all. We could try but we'd all just end up penniless, with a yard full of broke down cars, and the neighbors calling the borough office daily to complain about our rusty lawn ornaments.
I actually found one of these on an auction sight rescently...It didnt show any interior photos but it said it was a gucci hornet.
