Title: Viscous coupling
Post by: mudkicker715 on September 17, 2011, 04:15:52 PM
As with any good offroading trip there is stuff to replace. Try this one haha. It drove home sounding horrible. Even wiped out the end caps to a number of chain links. Question being what viscous coupler is combattable with a 229. Guessing a lot

It might be cheaper and easier to buy another 229. I'm not sure but I would assume the 119, 129, 219 and 229 VC's are the same but it's just a guess.

I had a good run with this one but, if I get a used one again. Shelf life is what when my buds ford tugs me out due to breakage again. Idk might throw the case from the 87 sedan in. rather have that as a mover and not a prts car. Otherwise thanks you sort of verified what I know.

That thing looks sweet. What changed with the 229? I have 2 129s sitting on my bench. About to overhaul one of them some time this week. :)

These guys will have the parts, but they like to see $$$$.
They also have a nice parts catalog.

I knew they were pricey. But wow.

I would say thanks for the link. But at that price.

Anyway I was contemplating the future of my recently acquired 87 sedan. Its a hair above a parts rig. Need to investigate that further.

You can also swap in the non-viscous planetary of a NP228.
