I love it when old cars still have the original dealership badge. Its like a little piece of the cars history displayed on the trunk lid or hatch. My 83 is from Bob Bundy AMC Jeep Renault of Denver, My 86 is from Emich AMC Jeep of Lakewood/Denver.
Who's showroom floor did your eagle roll off of?
Here are the ones I can remember from my currently and formerly owned AMCs:
1972 Matador - Williams and Bugbee, Bennington, VT
1972 Matador - B&K Motors, Trenton, NJ
1980 Eagle - Riviera Motors, Edmonton, AB
1980 Eagle - Leo Edwards and Sons, Chilliwack, BC
1984 Eagle - Big 4 Motors, Calgary, AB
1984 Eagle - Big 4 Motors, Calgary, AB
1984 Eagle - Riviera Motors, Edmonton, AB
1986 Eagle - Big 4 Motors, Calgary, AB
Over the last eight years I've seen numerous Eagles in the yards with decals from Big 4 Motors, and only a couple from other local dealers such as Time Motors. Big 4 Motors must have been one of the largest AMC/Jeep dealers in western Canada back in the day, and remains in business today as a Dodge/Jeep dealer.
i remember B&K in Trenton, NJ very well. (that's where i grew up) my uncle bought many cars from there, the only ones i remember well were a hornet a concord and an ambassador. he loved the AMC's. whenever we would be near there we would stop in and get some popcorn and a soda. they used to have it for the customers that came in. i will have to look i think a few pics of him were taken at the dealership. i think he also had a friend who worked there as a mechanic. I'll have to look on my eagles and see where they are from. this is fun! LAZ

Mine also came from Jerry Morris AMC, which is still a Jeep dealer today. Unfortunately, I think my badge got lost when I had the car painted.
I don't have any dealer badge either. It probably got lost when the previous owner got the car painted. I do know that it was purchased new at Elmhurst AMC/Jeep, which is only 1 town away from me. I also have AMC/Jeep/Renault service repair orders from when the car got serviced at the dealer throughout the 80s.
I've actually got an original dealer badge on another car.. and I was looking at getting it refinished.. but :censored: it's expensive!
Here in Colorado Springs the only AMC dealerships were Owen Faricy AMC Jeep Renault and Steve Johnson AMC Jeep Renault. Oddly have never seen an Eagle with either one of those badges here in Colorado Springs...Just a few jeeps.
T&T Pontiac Buick Jeep
Bluefield, WV
Although the only badge on my "88 wagon was the used car lot, the original dealer was stamped inside of the owner's manual.
Mine hailed from Sothview Chevrolet Co., Inver Grove Hgts., MN
It was sold to someone in St Paul, MN on 1/29/88.
my 82 Limited Eagle from the Crows Nest Pass is another one from
1982 Eagle - Big 4 Motors, Calgary, AB

That's pretty neat! My '83 came from Emich of Lakewood/Denver then went to Texas before coming back to Colorado. I removed the dealer badge when I sold the car.
My '84 never had a dealer badge but I have the original paperwork that shows that it came from Bundy AMC.
Small world!
Duke Tufty...I love that name!!....In my area Bob Bundy must have been the big dog....cuz out of all the amc's I see around over half are all Bob Bundy.

Wow, that's cool to know! I love info like that. I have the paperwork from the original purchase of the car with Duke Tufty. Car was a special order from AMC.
I dont recall seeing duke tufy or jw moody on the master list of lost dealerships on the amc heritage forum...Ill have to look through it again....those may be a few to add to the list.
There were two dealerships in Harvey, North Dakota. John Webber Motors and Keller Implement. Keller Implement (which was a John Deere Implement as well) sold AMC's through 1987.
Same place as some of El Matador's: Big 4 Motors, Calgary, AB

My original dealer badge got lost when I had Pepe painted, which bummed me out. However, I was at the junkyard today and found a Jeep from the same dealership. It was a newer badge, and it doesn't say AMC, but it does say Eagle. I"m not sure if I'll go ahead and attach it but its nice to have it.

You guys notice how so many of the dealer badges are nearly identical...I wonder if there was a particular company that manufactured those plastic badges with the oval-ish bar in the center like the jerry morris one pictured in the above post. I have see atleast 10 badges from different dealerships with that same badge style.
In the past these are some of the first things that get removed from my cars. TQ doesn't have one. I just think it's cheap advertising for a dealership to just slap their name on your car without even asking you. If they have good service and you liked doing business with them you'd spread the word.
I can't believe the one on Bucket looks like it was actually screwed on to the car!! :o :o :o
I had this one on one of my AMC's

I remember being with my dad when he bought a new 87 Mustang GT. Before he signed the contract, he told the salesman he wanted the dealer badge removed. The salesman gave him a little grief, so my dad said "I'll keep it on if you pay me $100 a month for advertising." He picked up the phone and said, "Remove the dealer badge from the red GT."

Love that!!! My thoughts exactly...I would have been furious had the dealer badge been screwed on to the back hatch like Buckets is!! Crazy!
I guess that was one way the dealers assured they had a permanent advertisement on the cars they sold. At the time it was kind of lousy but I consider it a bonus when an old car still has its badge, albeit I'm not real hot on the idea of yet another spot where rust and moisture can fester....I always bondoed the holes and used double sided tape to reatach.
I will have to go out and look.My first AMX - a 73 was from Camelot in Albany, NY. , and bought from the original owner. In Hudson , NY where I got my first wagon, an 84, they used to be an AMC dealer, Pulchers I beleive was the name.

I'm glad you said that, 'cause that's exactly how I feel about dealer badges. (Not to put a kink into this topic... :-[ ) Every car I see driving around has them.
Which brings up another point: What difference does it make where you got it? If you're driving a Mazda, Mazda made it, not [put name here] dealer made it.
Ok, sorry for the rant. Please continue.
neither Eagle Eyes or Survivor has one nor do they seem to of ever had one.
I took this picture months ago when I helped Jesse out with the removal of the bed from his J-Truck, but when I was checking out his two Kammies one of them had a dealer badge on it so I snapped a photo.
...this very well could have been a Used Car lot badge now that I think about it. There is no AMC Badging as part of the name.
Did a little research and it sure was an AMC/Jeep dealership....Founded on October 20, 1976 Fred Reid AMC/Jeep was located at 2129 Main St Joplin MO 64801. According to the MO Secretary of state the last files on record from this business was on November 1, 1984.
Awesome. Thanks for doing the research! Cool know it was a real AMC Dealership, bummer it appears it didn't make it all the way to the end! :-\

Oh man! That's even better than a badge!! Those tags always got tossed or lost in the first few months.... that is so cool you still have that.
Just scored another badge at a junkyard. It's in pretty good shape, it even has some of the fake woodgrain decal

Duke Tufty, a nice man he was. My dad worked as a mechanic for him in the '70's. I do remember Duke Tufty selling AMC's in the late '70's or early '80's. This was after Anderson Hall, the AMC dealer in Sioux Falls, SD had closed. The AMC dealership was picked up by Duke Tufty also in Sioux Falls . Duke Tufty was a Chrysler/Dodge dealer & took on AMC when Chysler was in danger of going under in the late '70's or early 80's. Duke Tufty, later Ted Tufty no longer exists being bought out several years ago by a larger car dealership.
