Hi everyone, love the site! I had an '83 SX4 5-speed in high school and had to sell it when I was in college. Been bummed out ever since, so after MUCH searching just picked up an '81 SX4 with 49K miles and it's cherry. Interior looks brand spanking new, little old lady bought it brand new. Anyways, the suspension is tired and the RF coil is broken. I may go with previously suggested 1970-on Javelin springs to lift it up an inch or so (anyone have good/bad experience with this?), or have some made by this phenomenal spring shop here in MA, they'll also make me up some leaf springs... Anyways, of course I want a little more rubber (still has the 195/75/15's), if I went with 225/65/15 is the additional 1+" of width going to look a little ridiculous? Is there a different steel rim from another vehicle that may be wider and have the right backspacing? I don't want the tires ballooning out and wearing unevenly. I have some aluminum Jeep rims but there's something about those goofy plastic hubcaps that I just can't let go of. Any better suggestions for a bigger tire without going so wide? Thanks a million!!!!
Mike
Right on. Thanks for the input that looks like a good size, I don't want anything too big this car's too nice to do heavy off-roading in, thanks again!
I have 235/75R15's on mine. Biggest I'll go for the stock 15 inchers. There is a lot of sidewall roll though when going around tight corners, so I've been playing with the idea of finding some 16" or possibly even 17" rims if I could find some that would look pretty decent for a fair price.
