just curious as to who is planning on attending
I unfortunately will NOT be able to make it unless some major star alignments occur. Mainly due to a probable employer change and some financial diffulculties that are prompting said change.
I really wanted to meet some of the great people here on the Nest. So who am I not going to get to meet?
You will not meet me unless we are traveling on the same highway. If we can connect easily, I would like to meet the mover of "Eaglepiles".
If you're referring to the meet at Mavericke's, jim and wonderEAGLE will be coming up from the south.
I can't make it either :'( Plains got pushed forward and we ended up buying a home last month instead of waiting till the beginning of the year.
Thinking of it. Do I work tnat weekend. Haha
:( i'm out. gotta save the funds for property. can't make a NW rescue without it. But i hope everyone has a great time!!
I hope Rollguy, WonderEAGLE and I are not alone at Mav's house! We may get in trouble sifting through the parts stash if Mav isn't there.
I am planning on being there on Friday. I have to head to Chicago Saturday though. I have a few things listed on Craigslist currently to make up for dipping into my funds for the trip for my paper weight Saturn and the battery for the Eagle.
Since my daughter will be with me I will not be bringing my Eagle.
I'm seriously considering showing up to the Meet... :P
RegalW is correct though, I need so much help out here it's unbelievable. Since I've been without work the last 9 moths you'd think I'd be working harder out there to make a few extra bucks but there's not alot I can do without funds to get some projects started... and even still, pointless to try without help. My back has gotten real bad. I've seen three neuro-surgeons, three family docs, a chiropractor and about a dozen E.R. docs in the last year and they all say the same thing... "Sorry, not much we can do but pump you full of meds." That was "fun" for awhile I guess but it got me into some trouble and caused more health issues so now it's just alot of hobbling around and grunting alot, LOL! Focusing on school right now to hopefully be able to show the county and the banks that I can run a business and maybe hire some help and do some expanding and go totally legit and solve about 50 of my biggest concerns right now and maybe even make a few bucks, lol!
Point is... Regal is right, at this point - I probably woulnd't notice what was missing and even if I did... I'd probably be thankful for clearing out the space, LOL! I wish some of you lived closer... I'd post a sign in the yard saying "Free parts and cold beer for hard-labor!" I could give away enough parts to pay my "help" and still have enough to build a few cars, pay my "car-debt" and keep the Sanctuary going.
So hey... you might wanna be prepared to work a lil'bit when you get here LMAO!!!

Hey, I thought the point here was to get people to come to your place, not scare 'em off (http://www.bcjeepclub.ca/Smileys/default/taunt003.gif) lol
I should have worded that a bit better... So hey... you might wanna be prepared to work a lil'bit when you get here if you want some free swag!!!
;P
well I definitely will not be able to make it. I was hoping to get an extra day or two with the job change....i still don't know when the new job will start. They have a problem of not enough trucks for my batch of recruits. :(
I can't see leaving Saturday morning, driving 10 hours to arrive @ dark, then having to leave early sunday morning.
darn, I really wanted to make it! Maybe next year .........
I'M in the same boat sort of I work that weekend. So I would need to take 36hrs vacation. That's all I have left. Out of 168 hrs of vacation 36 floating holiday and 48 sick. Its summer your supposed to burn it right. Also supposed to work tomorrow..............not. haha
So who's left? Looks like rollguy, Brandon, WonderEAGLE and me. Anyone else? Do you suppose Mavericke will be there?
My wife and I will be leaving really early on that Friday. Then we have to go to Chicago Saturday. A Short trip, but we have a family thing in Chicago.
I am planning on making it there. I got Friday off work, so hopefully nothing comes up to stop me. I plan on coming down Friday.

Fingers crossed :) I'm in packing mode to make the meet international ;D
Same here. I will be leaving on Thursday eve from CA. I am working out the last details on the car and sleeping spot (back of the wagon).
I've been a member for about a year now and I feel like the new guy still in a lot of regards. I would like to make the meet though so I can put names and faces together and share in the "fellowship of the Eagle" as I call it whenever I run into another person with an Eagle.
Not to complain, but we had a family vacation recently to South Dakota and I bought a used 2001 Toyota Highlander "as is" and the engine blew 3 weeks into ownership! It just got back to Michigan yesterday via flat bed from Sioux Falls and because of this thing, my financial situation is in the toilet! I still plan to make the meet though on Friday and Saturday if I can scrape some cash up and have a car to drive. My Eagle is not running very good right now every since I washed the engine with a garden hose and I haven't had time to look at it yet. Lord willing, I'll get it running better and maybe drive it down for the meet.
Hoping to see some of you there!

You probably got water in the distributor, easy fix. We hope to see you at the meet!
All right! Things are looking up. I really hope all can make it - and that our Eagle makes it!
Well, so much for this year. My wife just got a notice that she has a manditory training on Friday the 9th. So, the plan was to leave at 5 am, so we'd actually get a little bit of time at the meet. Looks like that is not going to happen. Now we would not be able to leave until the late afternoon, which puts us in Abingdon late Friday. Then we have to leave Saturdayto get to Chicago for that family thing. Looks like I may not be there after all.
Plus my wife's on call for Federal Jury duty all next week (she conventiently forgot about that). Not sure when they will find out if she has to report on Friday.
Sorry guys.
You need a break from the driving. It's too far for one day.
I really wanted to make the meet, but it is smack dab in the middle of a 10 day shift for me. I would have to miss 3-4 days of work which I can't afford right now. :(
To those that can't make it... real-world is more important and there will be other Meets so don't fret!
To those that are going to make it! I can't wait to hang out and talk "eagle" with you guys! We'll have fun regardless of how many make it!
Jim, I guess that answers your question... I have considered making it this year. Though I may get lost from the bed to the Sanctuary, LOL!
And Rohnk, I think rollguy is right. That's usually a distributor problem. I bet if it has sat a few days in the hot weather - she'll probably fire up. If not, then maybe pop off the cap and blow it out with an air compressor or just let it sit and dry. You can also pull the plugs out - that sometimes helps if alot of water got down in there. But that's really all you have to worry about. Maybe some water in the carb/air cleaner... but again, that will dry up and you should be fine.
The goal this year is bring as many eagles as possible since the NAMDRA/Cordova guys have put alot into making it "special" for Eagle owners this year. Obviously, if you cant bring an Eagle - the next best thing is yourself... but do what you can to bring the Eagle and if she's not in perfect running shape, then it will give us something to work on while you're here!
I tried starting it today and no go. I'll charge the battery tomorrow and give it another go. It has been sitting for a month now with no attention and I really need to get started on restoration. The meet is a 6.5 hour ride for me which is a little bit to trust with the Eagle running as it is now.
Wanting to come anyway though so I'm going to ask the boss for Friday off. Probably get down there about noon or 1pm if traffic is good.
Do you have shopping carts? >:D
Well of course... the hatch area of your eagle will work fine for your shopping cart. :P
Probably have to be the backend of the Toyota loaner I have from the dealer. I think the carb needs a rebuild on my Eagle and I don't have the time to get it done before the meet. Oh well, at least I am planning to make the meet! See you all there soon.
Well, there's a slight chance I can make it. As of right now it looks like this shift may ne slow and I may ne able to take a few days off. Won't know for sure until Thursday.

Dude! You've got plenty of time to rebuil that carb! Seriously, a kit is like $30 I think and even a novice can rebuild it in about an hour or so. Just get a big piece of paper under you and trace your screws and label them where they go so you don't forget. The rest is pretty easy as far as replacing gaskets and stuff. You may have a hard time "tuning" it once you get it on... but if you can just get it running well enough to drive here, then we can slap on the finishing touches when you get here! C'mon! You know you want to!

Hey, awesome! Looks like it's starting to come together and people are showing up and making plans. It's like I've always said - in this economy, most people don't know their coming until they've left. People who KNOW they're coming aren't able to make it and people that expected to not be ablt to make have things open up last minute. It all works out in the end! I'm excited to see interest picking up!

I think I MIGHT be able to make it in time. This new job I got moving parts all around the country is taking it's toll. Besides, the pay is not all that good. I may have to sell some of the parts I picked up on the road to pay for fuel to get there!
I'm sure the buyer wouldn't mind, lol!

I will give it a try as I have an extra Carter carb that I can rebuild and put on. Never rebuilt a Carter before and the last carb I rebuilt was 15+ years ago! It is a 6.5 hour drive for me, so that is a lot to ask of the Eagle since I haven't done any real work on it since purchasing last December. I also want to start taking it apart to begin the restoration on it later this month. Your "peer pressure" is getting to me though! :)
Well hey, look at it this way... 6hrs isn't too bad. If you can get her here... you'll have more heads together to help out with some minor work before you head home.
And if worste comes to worse... 6hrs isn't that bad of a haul if I HAD to tow you home. And I would if you got stuck on account of my peer pressure, lol! But you gotta buy the donuts and milk and diesel, lol!
Honestly, I wouldn't blame you for not wanting to risk it. The intelligent responsible side of me would agree... but on the other hand, I don't listen to that side much and I've driven Eagles across the country that shouldn't even be pushed across the yard with a tractor, LOL! My first Eagle was BAD... REAl bad and I drove it literally all over the country. Heck, I even put about 800 miles on a donut on the interstate, LOL! Those were my younger crazier rockstar years but I survived and have great stories for the kiddos! I took that thing from NW Illinois to Appletone, Wi and back to IL and then BACK to Appleton and then straight to Fort Worth in a one week time frame. It had no sway bar bushings so it swayed and clanged, the exhaust "ended" in front of the tranny... the tranny shifter housing was shattered so the exhaust fumes leaked into the car so we had to drive with our heads hanging out the window half the time and it was freaking 20 degress in Wi when we left and then 98 in Fort Worth... it was ridiculous! The carb was jacked up and there was a hole in the return line from the tank that spewed gas at random times. The carb would run great for days and then you'd pull into a gas station and you couldn't get it to fire up - no matter what. OH yeah and lastly? No turn signals. We had the windows down for oxygen anyways so we used hand signals. My poor brother had to drive most of the way because my license was suspended for... well, we don't need that posted here. Too many tickets ok? lol I drove that car around like that for two years. I found the nest and fixed the turn signals in 10 minutes on the side of the road and was so mad that I drove it around like that for so long over something so simple.
Anyway...
Yeah, I was pretty reckless then... but my kiddos "sobered" me up.
I bet your eagle is in much better shape... and if I can do it at 18... JOO CAN DEW EEET!!!
Carver... where are you coming from? And are you on your way here?
When I bought the car sight unseen, I drove it 17 hours from Nebraska back to Michigan. It was a great trip that I did a write up on in the road trip section.
If I can get it to fire tomorrow, it comes with me on Friday. I'll also bring that carb kit along with me just in case. This will be the last hoorah for the Eagle before I begin the restoration. I have a name picked out for it too which I think will fit the car nicely. Not going to say it before I start the postings about my progress though!
Sweet! I look forward to seeing you both here!
WonderEAGLE and jim are at the Holiday Inn Express, Galesburg, patiently -no, wait, that's impatiently- waiting for something to happen.

Hurry before I break out the canned adult beverages!

Originally planned to meet up at Cordova. But plan on making the 2 hour trip after work tomorrow. Arrive about 6:45 PM.
I had attended the first meet for a couple of hours at Tama. Can not bring either one of the SX/4s. Still in project phase. Will drive one of the DPV's.
Plan on attending a little while Friday night. Have other commitments Saturday.
I remember meeting IAEagle, Jim, 83Eagle, & allend.
We look forward to having you here! I was at the first Meet as well, but there were a couple guys that missed in passing.
