I have not had any extra money lately so Ive been doing more Eagle nesting thatn Eagling. I found a thread on the net about a 68 concep AMX that was stolen off the streets of Kenosha and never seen or heard of again. I found this a while back but I forgot I had saved a pic of it....Despite its kind of gremlin like and questionable appearance its reappearance would be huge for the AMC community. I don't think it was stolen, I think AMC made arrangements for it to disappear and never be seen again. :rotfl:
Seriously though, I don't know what they were thinking with that one. "Let's chop the a$$ end off an AMX, slap on an American bumper and taillights, and see what we end up with." Yes, it was a similar philosophy that gave us the Gremlin, but at least the Gremlin looked good and wasn't a misshapen afterthought.
On the bright side, if this car did surface, it would sure be easy to identify.

I don't blame them ;D
That does suck it could have been stolen..but then what do you do with it?.. okay so you stole it.. but how can you sell it or make money .. you can't insure it.. and if anyone recognized it you'd be screwed.
Its like a stolen picasso....Its ugly as sin but hey....Its the only one and thats some serious braggin rights!!...If it did surface I dont know who would file suit against it seeing how the owners are no longer in existance.
What a neat story. It would be cool to see this resurface...if someone did own this and they came out about having it...they should be allowed to have it registered!
It'd probably someplace overseas

Really? I doubt it...you'd have to get a bunch of paper work signed I would imagine to get a car shipped/flown over seas...paper work this thing probably never got...at least not in it's speedy theft! :)
Russians (and others) didn't bother with paperwork when loading cargo containers here and Port Authority couldn't stop shipments with Diplomatic Immunity paperwork until after 9/11
I did not know that...thats an interesting tid bit there....Makes ya wonder what else slipped out of the country pre 9/11.

They are definetly not the same car , not sure if he is eludeing to that or not.
This version I have seen pics of at shows, and I think there is more than one, as I saw one a different color in an article in Hemmings Muscle Machines not too long ago....................if I remember it was a dark red or maroon ?? Ill see if I can find the story.

It opens that way because it contains a rumble seat - or "ramble seat" as it was called in this case.
As for the AMX/2, there were at least three different Hot Wheels versions of it.
