Title: What you've all been waiting for... Details for the 2011 Int'l Eagle Nest Meet!
Post by: Mavericke on May 27, 2011, 01:17:23 PM

PLEASE VOTE IN THE POLL!!
YOU CAN CHANGE YOUR VOTE AT ANY TIME, BUT ONLY ONE VOTE PER PERSON. THIS WILL HELP ME GET SOME SORT OF IDEA ON HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL BE MAKING IT OUT. THANKS!

Thanks for being patient guys! I think everyone knows the dates at this point, they've posted in several threads, but I never got around to posting an actual lineup of the events thus not making it official. Well folks, even though it's been official for probably over a year now - we can officially say it's official, lol! We're trying something different this year than what we've done the past few years. Usually, we over plan and stress out and probably make things more difficult than they really need to be... at least, that's how my last Meet was than I hosted. I think that Doug and Brandon can probably understand where I'm coming from. Doug's meet was fairly simple and straightforward and it was the best Meet thusfar. Maybe because it was the first Meet. Maybe because Doug is just a studly man and he makes everything "better", lol! I don't know - but the plan is to get back to those roots! I want to make it simple and more about just hanging out and spending time with fellow Nesters. The first Meet I hosted was in 2008 I think and I tried to plan everything down to the minute... nothing goes as planned, lol - so we're not doing that this year! We're just going to set some activites with general times for each day and then we're gonna wing it! I want you to all be relaxed and have a good time. So without further ado... here is the tentative schedule!

Friday September 9th, 2011 -  This is the day that I suspect most members will arrive. We'll all meet up at my place and just hang out. I'll give you the grand tour of the Sanctuary, pull out all the goodies for anyone wanting to make a purchase and also bring out all the service manuals for everyone to thumb through and enjoy. Around roughly 6-7pm, we'll discuss dinner and find a good place to eat. Afterwards, everyone can take off and get settled in to there hotels or their camping gear here at the Sanctuary.

Saturday September 10th, 2011 - This is going to be an early day so we can get good spots at the Cordova dragway which is about an hour from the Sanctuary. The dragway opens at 8am. We'll use this thread to discuss what time we will leave. I don't mind hanging around the Sanctuary for the first part of the day and then taking off to Cordova around 11am. Or if we want the early bird spots - we should leave here at 6am. Plenty of time to decide what we're doing there. Cordova's park will be open until 8pm for the AMC Internationals. Here is a quote directly from their site regarding the day's plan...

AMC Nationals with Swap Meet and Car Show  8:00am - 2:00pm
Bracket Points Race #11 + Bikes #8 + West Racing Heads Quick 8
Open 2:00pm  Time Trials 3pm, Eliminations 7pm
You can find more info here at http://www.cordovadrag.com/pages/schedule.html (http://www.cordovadrag.com/pages/schedule.html).
FYI - IF FOR SOME REASON, IT IS RAINED OUT - EVERYTHING WILL MOVE TO SUNDAY!

My personal opinion, even though we all know I love to sleep, is that we leave fairly early so that we can enjoy the duration of the car show and the swap meet. Again, we have plenty of time to figure this out. There will be food vendors there and restrooms and things like that - but be sure to bring a few extra bucks to eat on. And don't forget that Cordova is right at an hour from the Sanctuary so if you plan on following the convoy, make preparations for fuel and things like that. Also, I am trying to work out a deal with Cordova as far as fees go - but my guess is that we will all still have to pay an entry fee to get into the park/dragway. Please do not forget about this. Fees are as follows...

Regular Saturday Adults       $11.00
Regular Saturday Kids (6-12) $3.00
Kids under 6 are free

Cash, credit or debit cards accepted at the pit gate.
Gift certificates are available in any denomination.
Call the track at 309-654-2110 with any questions.
More info at http://www.cordovadrag.com/pages/tickets.html (http://www.cordovadrag.com/pages/tickets.html).

And I think that if you want to enter the car show - it's $25-35. I'm working on confirming the exact amount now. Note, that if you enter the car show or race... the entry fee is included, so it would be a flat $25-35. So don't worry about the entry fee being tacked on as well. They have not had an "Eagle class" in a few years but I am working on having this setup again this year so that trophies will be offered for our class. I will post more information as it comes in. Also, don't forget to think about souvenirs! NAMDRA may be doing something really cool for us this year and it involves their merchandise... so, you may want to put back a few bucks - just in case! :) I'm trying to work closely with "mramc" and most of my information thusfar has come from him. For those of you that do not know him, he's a great guy and very helpful. Please post any questions concerns here and I am sure that between mramc and I, we can figure it out!

Sunday September 11, 2011 - I'd like us to all meet up and have breakfast. We'll discuss time and location the previous evening. For those than need to scoot - we will see them off and for those that wish to hang out longer, we will use this day for just hanging out at the Sanctuary. We'll turn some wrenches, I'll fire up the grill and cook you the BEST BBQ brisket you've ever had with my famous jack daniels sauce. We'll roast some sweet corn on the grill, bust out some home-made baked beans, potatoes, chips, cottage cheese, ice cold beverages and some music. My band is pretty much on hold right now, but I'm working on either hiring my buddy's band for the night or hiring a karaoke rig to come out. I have a pool, big sturdy swingset, big gated trampoline and plenty of running room for kiddos and Eagles! Sunday will basically be just a big BBQ/hang out day. I really hope that you all can be here Sunday as well!

Update: Sunday we will be swapping doors and installing new door gaskets for sure on Jim's wagon. Anyone else needing repairs - please shoot me a message and we can probably work it in.

If I find out soon enough that most of you cannot hang out Sunday, maybe we can take off from Cordova early and then come back to the Sanctuary and do all this stuff on Saturday as well! We could leave at 6am for Cordova and hang out until about 3-4pm and be back at the Sanctuary by 5pm and fire up the grill and open up the pool! It won't be getting dark until about 8-9pm so we'll still have plenty of time to hang out and enjoy some good food and the warm weather. Then Sunday morning we can meet up for breakfast and see everyone off and those that stick around can enjoy leftovers and some wrenching! Either way works for me. You have the basic plan for the weekend and we're going to pretty much wing it and not stress about meeting timelines or fitting too much into one weekend. We're just going to hang out and have a good time!

Don't forget, we'll have T-shirts and goodie bags. I'm working on another gift package from AutoZone and also talking with the local HotRod club to see if they want to come hang out and enjoy the day. There are also several other local Eagle enthusiasts that will be here. I think it's going to be a good year - you don't want to miss this one guys!

I'd like to start getting some sort of preliminary head count for who will camping here at the Sanctuary. I have plenty of parking space and I have 200amp service in the house and the shop so we can feed you all the power you need. There is also a couple water hookups outside, but it is well water and it is not great tasting. We will have plenty of bottled water on hand. We don't have mosquitos out here. Seriously, I think I've had two bites in two years. We do have LOTS of frogs and cats though! In fact, we just had some kittens... so feel free to take one or two home with you, lol!

Ok, so there's the preliminaries! Post your questions here and I will answer them as I can. Please read the whole thread though before asking your question because you're answer may be in there! I will update this thread as the time draws nearer. Once again, I'm really looking forward to this guys!

One more thing! The Previous Meet DVD's will be done this year and I will be giving a free copy to all arrivals. For those that cannot make it, it will cost $2 to cover shipping and disc. For those that want Blu-ray, I will burn them only as requested and they will cost $10 regardless due to cost of discs. This year's Meet will be taped in HD and will be available about a month after the Meet.

T-shirt will have the SX4 on it this year and the prices will remain the same as previous years.

Thanks guy!

Mavericke, IowaEagle has what is left of the goodie bags I put together for last year.  I cannot remember, but I think there are between 12-15 left. I also have some more bags and signs and stuff from Hemmings.  I will send them your way when I get paid next.  Also don't forget RockAuto has been good for a gift card every year so far.

Ah yes, I forgot about Rock-Auto! I will get in touch with them asap. Thanks for any help you send my way - always appreciated. Glad you're ok with the bags cause I already told Doug to bring them LOL! I think he has several left over from the 2008 Meet as well. I was thinking we could combine them and have some really cool goodie bags for like the first 10-15 arrivals. Going to try to add a couple items to them this year too. Thanks again man!

I wondered when you would show up here again.  We plan to be there but we won't be camping.  Make sure you schedule time to change out both passenger doors on the blue wagon. ;D

How does Sunday sound for the door install? Want me to get some hotel information for you? We've posted that stuff previously, but I think it's just as easy for everyone to Google it - however, if you have questions about any particular hotels - I can at least tell you if it's nice or not. The one everyone stayed at that first year is the cheapest in town it has a bar, pool and 24hr restauraunt. It's not the nicest, but the sheets are clean.

For thos insterested.... last I knew the rooms were $55 a night and the name of the place is called "The Broadview"... I believe it's a Ramada.

I would really love to see that Turbo in person. After now owning a Turbo Diesel Dodge which is really just a bigger version of out 258's... I'm in love with Deisels! I am determined to drop a Cummins in an Eagle without getting rid of too much of the original drive train... or at least keep it AMC. For instance, going with some AMC Wagoneer axles or something. The gears have been turning on this for awhile. I won't be pulling the trigger for quite some time though. Too many irons in the fire right now as it is. I'd be happy to be able to get Pat's Eagle and My wagon finished for the Meet though I have a feeling I'll be pushing it to get his done on time. At the very least his will be painted for the Meet and I hope to win a trophy with how purty she is this year! :D Might have to finish it and not let Pat have it back until after all the big local car shows are done around here, lol!

Well we're planning on being there for Friday, then part of Saturday.  Then well head to Chicago for a reunion of sorts my Brother wants to see happen before he gets shipped out again.

It has been confirmed... there will be a nice little suprrise for all of those attending the Cordova show. Plan on bringing a few extra bucks as it will cost money to make it happen, but it is already in the works and I promise you will want to own what NAMDRA is putting out!

Also, for anyone wishing to enter the car show... the fee for that will be $25-35. I know that seems a little steep and I really hope you can all enter even if you're ride isn't going to win. It would be really cool to be able to see all of our Eagles lined up for some good photos. Plus, we're working on an Eagle class so who knows... you may win a trophy! :P

Original Post updated with some corrections and minor details. Also, we plan to do some wrenching on Sunday. So far we've got Jim's wagon to work on. We will be swapping out his doors and possibly installing new door gaskets.

Anyone wanted repairs or upgrades, let me know now so I can pencil it in. I'd like to have an idea on what we're going to be doing and know whether or not I need to pull parts off ahead of time or special order something.

I mentioned this in another post, but what about doing a carb swap to the Motorcraft 2100 kit? It could be informative and entertaining to get a few guys in there learning to perform this popular swap.

I suppose I'm not very observant.  I didn't realize the plan was to install my doors Sunday.  We'll need to leave Sunday for the 2 day trip back home.  The Rev has kindly offered to help install them earlier. He seems to be lining up a lot of work for himself helping others.

Just so you know, from someone else who has had the gears turning on just such a project myself. The full 6cyl cummins will not physically fit under the hood. It's to long. Been a while since I measured it, but i think it would be firewall to grill.

It's also several inches taller. So there needs to be some serious modification to get it to fit properly with the tranny and such inside the tranny hump.

And one last thing. I'm assuming you know this, but I'll say it anyways. Because the cummins is a diesle, the torque curve is much higher than a gas, and also at much lower RPM, if you bolt it up to an auto that hasn't been rebuilt to handle the low revs, it'l go bonkers lol

You probably know all this, but i just thought i'd mention what research I've done on the subject.

Will see you folks when you get to the Cordova Meet.  I will be there @ the Holiday Inn Express as every year!  Probably not have an Eagle as I have some engines and a truckload of other parts to bring, so the J20 will likely be employed.  Who knows, if I haven't sold the SX4's by then, maybe I will tow one out!  I just can't see crushing them!

Looking forward to September!

Swap meet?  I would like to bring home a good blue cargo cover that rolls up without having to do it by hand.  I can trade a decent one that does not roll up.

Do you know why it does not roll up?  I believe I have 2 tan ones.  One of them rolls up.  I got it for Reverendbill, but I think he found one.  If Bill no longer needs it You're welcome to take it apart and combine it with your blue one to make one that rolls up - if that is possible.  I have not looked at it closely.

I suggest that when the time gets closer everyone post what they would like to have.  I don't have much to offer but someone may want something I have.  I brought stuff to the last meets and no one wanted it.  I don't plan to bring a trailer this time.

Why would you scrap an Eagle? Bring them to the sanctuary! If you're going to come to Cordova... the sanctuary is just 45m away - you should come to the first day of the Meet.

Rohnk - we'll be doing all sorts of stuff. I'm sure a carb wouldn't be a problem.

Jim - Sorry man, I thought we cleared that up via PMs. I mentioned Sunday and you said you didn't care as long as they got done. I'm sure we can do them earlier. I just figured that would be the least busiest day. My guess is we can do them saturday night if that works for you. or depending on what time you want to leave Sunday - we could do them Sunday morning. They really won't take long at all. It's a pretty easy job.

A wise Chinese philosopher once said, "A wise man changes his mind, a fool never does".
Well, anyway, I think someone said it or should have.  I have to be at work Tuesday and so was allowing 2 days, Sunday and Monday, for the drive back.
I'm very conscious of the fact that Carolyn and I will be making a very long trip in a 28 year old car.

There's no way I can make this, but I would like to make a suggestion (just in case no one is doing it) it would be great if one of you were to do lots of videos, and post them.

It would be really cool to see other meets.

I don't know what kind of turnout we are gonna have at the Western Canada Eagle's Meet, but I'll be doing video, and I'll be posting them as I can.

Shiny, does this mean it's up somewhere? I haven't had a chance to see any of it yet. Or is it strictly on DVD?

Strictly DVD for now. There are some very silly copyright issues that sites like youtube are enforcing that will not allow me to post the video unless it's trimmed down to the absolutle basics. I spent alot of time on it - so I'd like it to be shown as it is. The second DVD is not totaly done yet. I'm waiting for other footage from the last Meet. I was told that it didn't turn out well, but I have pro tools that can clean that stuff up. So if it comes - I'll use it. If it never shows up, I'll just close it out and finish just before this year's meet and rip it to DVD for those arriving. After the meet, we'll see about getting them posted on the store for cost of materials and shipping. Should only be a couple bucks and all the money will go to the Nest.

I'll make an announcement when it's available.

Well, it's not looking good for me. I work 10 days on and 4 off and it was going to work out perfect. However, with Labor day coming up, they have us working 14 days in a row so we have Labor day weekend off. So I'm supposed to be working the days of the meet. Hopefully I can get it off but since I've only been there 2 months I really don't want to jeopardize anything. On a side note, I noticed Mavricke hasn't posted since June 24th. Hope everyething is ok with him.

I hope this one does not turn out like the Canada meet.

Doubtful, since there is another event planned in & around the meet (drag meet). The Calgary un-meet was more simply people looking at a computer screen & going "dude, that sounds fun, sure, I'll go" & clicking a button. When it came time, they suddenly realized that it meant actually getting off their rear ends & doing something (I'd have gone, but typical 80s AMC issues & a lack of money kept me away - maybe I'll make it out in winter just for the heck of it? :) ).

x2.  pretty much what was discussed in a pm.    All thought, and no action.  Hopefully, the international meet will have people that actually make the effort, instead of just saying they will.

Last I talked to Mavericke (a couple of days ago via text) IIRC he had some school stuff keeping him busy currently.  Might explain why he hasn't been online much.

It sounds like it's not serious problems with him, anyway.  That's a relief.
In the poll the first 4 options are all for people arriving some time during the meet.  9 committed.
I wonder who said we were so lame they wouldn't come?   :angry4:

I am still planning on being there Friday morning.  I have to head out Saturday morning however.  I have to be in a suburb of Chicago after lunch time.  Short trip, but I am planning on making it.

Of course I cannot get my Eagle to start right now (of course, everytime one of the other cars goes down for a repair the Eagle has to get jealous), so I hope this doesn't seriously eat into my trip fund.

No worries guys, all is well here. Just trying to keep my priorities in line. Ran into some issues last November that I'm still digging myself out of... one being the time I spent on the Nest. Not that I don't love you guys but I think you all know what I mean when I say that I have to keep the wheels turning in the real world or else our Midwest Sanctuary is going to go "poof" if you catch my drift.

Yes, spending alot of time working on my school stuff and maintaining my 4.0... actually just made the Dean's list. Just got my letter today! Still not working and though I finally got my unemployment - it wasn't as much as planned and it didn't go as far as expected. That's typical I suppose. There's never enough money, lol! The house is still not done and still hasn't been finalized. I still don't have cement in the barn. It was all supposed to happen in June or July but because Shelly switched jobs, the bank freaked out and they now want her employed for 6mo solid even though she's been steadily emplyed for last 11 years. Oh well. Now everything has been post-poned until February. But, I'm hanging in there and rolling with the punches coming back with fists'a flyin like the Itallian Stallion baby!

So rest assured, nothing about the Meet has been post-poned or anything like that. We're still on and everything is going as planned. I did hope for a bit more excitement and participation this year and jumped through some extra hoops to arrange some really cool suprises for the Cordova part of the Meet... but if people don't show - we'll miss them, but it's their loss. Them's the breaks ya know? It'll all work out and we'll still have fun even if it's just the four of us!!

The T-Shirt design is almost finished and I will be having them printed within the next week or two.

My AutoZone donation has been approved and I'll be picking that up this week for the goodie bags.

Brandon has donated what's left of his goodie bags from last year, I've added a few things to them and I'm hoping to get the bags that Doug has leftover from the first two Meets.

Waiting on a response from Rockauto for a gift card to give away.

I've been in touch with the guys from Cordova and there will be a special Eagle division this year. I don't want to give away the suprises in store... but I really hope most reconsider showing up. Especially if they/you have a really nice Eagle. This year will probably mark a yearly event at Cordova if things go over well. Several months ago we had alot of interest in the Meet this year so I really pushed for some cool stuff at Cordova and they made the arrangements... they only asked that we had enough Eagles show up to make the extra stuff worth the work. I'm confident that everything will go over smoothly and I'm really looking forward to it.

I've been working really hard on the yard for the campers. Getting the barn arranged for everyone and clearing out space for us to hang out and work on our Eagles. Trying to arrange the parts cars and clean up around them so that you guys can get to them easily and sort through parts with ease. I will be offering a substantial discount to all arrivals for any parts that want to buy while they're here.

Anyone that wishes to make a donation to Eagle Nest website can do so and send me the confirmation email and I will give them in-store credit towards anything for sale in the Sanctuary. All donations must be made to the Nest via the "donate" button BEFORE the Meet. All donations made to the Nest will recieve a 25/100 ratio that I'll match you on. Meaning that if you donate $100 to the Nest here, then you will have $125 credit for parts/labor when you arrive at the Meet (or to save and use at a future date). I'm really too poor to donate much of anything myself these days, but I can at least encourage others and offer my time/parts to help out. So take advantage while you can!

Just like last year, we will also offer a discount on the T-Shirts this year for pre-orders. Also, something to mention. This year, we are producing a significantly smaller number of shirts due to rising costs and lack of interest. So if you really want a shirt then you may really want to consider the pre-order - plus it saves you money!

Rest assured, everything is going good and I will post more details on these updates soon! Stay tuned!

Congrats on the Dean's list.  I used to make the Dean's list regularly.  He does keep several kinds of lists, you know! :'(
So far it looks like we'll have 2 Eagles there;  Rollguy's and our 83, which is far from a show car.
Providing, of course, that ours makes it all the way there and we don't spend the days trying to get it and us back home.

If it's just the three of us - so be it! We'll still have fun! I really have alot to do and I was going to not really work on the wagon much before the Meet... but now since I'm thinking it will be a small turn-out...

I may just have to pull some of that "mavericke-last-minute-"omg-he's-actually-going-to-try-it"-magic"

Ugh... I'm starting to get the "itch"... I haven't actually worked on any of my rides since the last Meet. I've got a long ways to go on Pat's wagon too and it's already behind schedule but hoping to get it done sooner than later... so... we'll see.... hmm....

Brandon is to be there Friday and leave Saturday.  He's coming without his Eagle.

Rollguy is coming through in his Eagle on his way back to CA from the east coast.  I'm not sure of the dates.

WonderEAGLE and I will be there Thursday in our 83 wagon, the one you saw at Omaha (if we make it at all) and leave Sunday.  When we leave Sunday I hope to have 2 "new" doors installed and take back a cargo cover and bumper corner that I just discovered that I need.  No telling what else I'll find that I need in the next 3 weeks. :o
We have a reservation at Holiday Inn Express in Galesburg.  We're not into camping these last many years, but are certainly willing to hang out around a camp fire and sing coom by ya (or whatever).  I used to know a few drinking songs.
I expect to have to swap mirrors, door lock, maybe door panel and speaker.  The speaker in the front passenger door is the only one that works.

Yeah the only chance that I would be able to bring the Eagle is if something changes and my daughter does not come with me.  Right now it looks like my wife is coming too.  If that is the case I am now a little short of the money I need.  If it is just me and my daughter I am good to go.

okay....well.....ummmm
I may be there after all. With my Eagle. It all depends on when the training starts for the new job. If it's the 12th I can do it, but if it's sooner I am out. All I have been told so far is that it will be after Labor day. So keep your fingers crossed, Mav.
tentative plans would be for me to drop this truck off in eastern PA on thursday morning, run home, take a short nap and then run all night to be there sometime friday morning. Would probably leave straight from Cordova so I can be well rested for start of new job.
I should have an answer within the next two weeks.

Unfortunately the photo web sites DO NOT let you post a PDF from a photo site, at least I've not found a way. I have to be done with some who has server access.  Hope to see a lot of you there. Does anyone from MO or IL have any suggestions about routes?  I've done extensive research on Google Maps and I'm going to pull out my stack of hard copy maps.
We prefer to stay off interstates so we won't feel compelled to push the 28 year old buggy too hard.  We will be coming from Little Rock and I plan to take US 67 as far as practical.  My question is what to do when we near St. Louis.  If there is no good way around, would it be better to take the outer loop or go straight through?  I don't know what time we'll get that far but we'll leave Little Rock probably about 8 AM on a Wednesday morning.  It looks to be about 350 miles to St. Louis.
Tips appreciated.

I'm not much for HWYs... I'm an interstate guy no matter what I'm driving, lol! But once you hit St Louey it's pretty much a straight shot which ever way you go.

Jim, Looked things over. IF you want to avoid as much interstate as possible, I'd suggest actually coming around the WEST side. It will still be I - 255 when you get off I - 55, but it will change to I - 270 right after you get on. Follow that to I-64 (U.S. Hwy. 40/61)that comes up & joins I - 70. Take I - 70 West (Will still be U.S. Hwy. 40/61) U.S. Hwy. 61 will split off shortly after that & that runs pretty much all the way up there.

:) Hope y'all have a safe trip. Sent you with a P.M. with my number. Forget EXACTLY where you have to change when you get close, but I remember U.S. 61 runs almost all the way there. If you pull it up on Mapquest, I think it'll say & you can zoom in to see exactly where you get off.

Is any one actually going? So far I see one car, one for a day or so and a whole lot of maybes. I include myself as I may have to go to a family funeral :(

First off, my condolences for you and yours. Family is first and we have Meets every year, so don't be too bummed if you can't make it.

As far as people showing up... this happens every year. Many people say they will be here and don't show and many people never even post - but DO show up. This thread is mainly intended for a ballpark figure and honestly... lol, it's never close! The first year I hosted the Meet, I think we had around 30 people confirm in one way or another they'd be here and we ended up with around 11? I think? It's about 10-15 each year so far.

I am confident that this year will be just as good as the previous years. I wouldn't worry too much about it - it's just the nature of the beast. Stuff happens and most common folk have so much going on that they really don't know whether or not they're going to make until they are there. It's to be expected in these times.

And even if only two Eagles show up - we'll treat it just the same and still have fun! I do wish you the best and hope you can make it!

Oh, I forgot to mention... I have not had the chance to set up the pre-order stuff for the shirts in the store. Not sure I still have the permissions, but I will try to check soon. If I cannot setup the pre-order stuff in time for the Meet, then I will still offer a discounted price for one week once we get them in the store.

Also, I had a software crash last week so the DVD's are behind yet again. Leave it to the king of procrastination to wait till the last minute to finish things up just so that I can have a problem and lose some data. I have everything backed up on external drives, but it's going to add a couple days of work that I'm not sure I have time for before the Meet. Still working on cleaning up the Sanctuary Shop a bit and organizing some stuff.

Everything else is going smoothly, make sure you guys take a look at that entry form and come prepared for the Cordova stuff. I'll keep you posted.

I've been away from the nest for awhile and just learned about this after I posted the NAMDRA meet.  Wow, this is awesome Maverick.  Pretty generous of you for hosting.  I'm only just west of the Quad Cities, but work gets in the way.  If I can make it, I'll see you there. Otherwise, I'll just meet up with you at Cordova.

So the big question is...Who is draggin their Eagle?

My Eagle just barely drags me down the highway.  It has to get us 600-700 miles back home, so I'm not about to risk it on a track.
Besides, do they have a class they time with a calendar?

Can someone provide an address to Mavericke's so I know where to go? I plan to come down Friday night and stay for most of Saturday. Then I need to head back for a company picnic on Sunday.

There's a good possibility that I may be draggin mine. I don't want to give away the suprise details, but I have been working on a deal for Pat and I. That should be more than enough of a hint! The work is in progress but nothing is set in stone until it's "done". But it should be a site to see for those arriving!

Maybe Mav could park an Eagle at the end of his driveway?

LOL... yeah, I will probably park my wagon at the end of the driveway. It's really not as bad to find as alot think. It's just in the country. It's an easy "L" shape from town. It won't be too hard to spot. If I have to post signs directing traffic - I will, LOL!

We'll see how the Eagle does on the way up.  We may be able to come through there on the way home Sunday.  Right now I just hope it gets us there.  It still doesn't want to start when warmed up.  That can make it difficult when stopping for gas.  I hope there will be some Eagle experts there that can help with it.
We'll be leaving home for Galesburg/Abingdon before daylight Wednesday.

Neweagle - yes, parts will be available to buy at discounted prices for Meet attendees. If someone lives near you and wants to bring the parts to you on their way back, thats fine. Just figure whom I need to send them with and then send me a PM fo what you want and I'll have it ready for them when they leave.

Jurjen - Hopefully you can make it out to another meet soon! You just dont want to come because you dont want to have to perform surgery on my Eagle again, lol! And by the way... when you say "have on on me" here in the states, typically, that means you're buying! So... I accept PayPal, money order, western union and money gram, LOL! But hey, we'll have one FOR you free of charge! :P

Jim - Yeah, we'll look her over for ya when you get here. No telling what the issue could be though. Sounds like one of those gremlins that might take some random trouble shooting. We'll see what we can do though!

OH and hey Jim! Wanna do me a favor!?!? When you come through Missouri... like around the St. Louis area... keep your eyes out for a White Castle for me! I'll pay cash on delivery for a "Crave Case" of burgers! Mmmm MMM! Just don't forget - Meat and Cheese ONLY! No onion, pickle or sauce!

Let's recap... White Castle - Crave Case - Plain, Meat & Cheese only.

You'll be my hero, I'll pay you cash, and I may even try to start LIKING you at some point, LOL! j/k j/k

Sorry, we bypassed St. Louis and didn't see any White Castles - or much of anything else.  We drove until 7:30 before finding a motel in Jacksonville, IL.

Our daughter in eastern PA is supposed to meet us in Galesburg sometime tomorrow, but may not be able to get out because of the flooding and mud slides.  Her house is pretty high so she may not have to evacuate but some of her roads are flooded.  They're still having flood rains in her area.

I'm going through Joliet, IL that has a White Castle when I come down tomorrow. Do you want me to stop and grab a Crave Case for you? I think most of them will make it to you!  :-X

We stopped by the meet location this morning and had the place all to ourselves.   I did some parts shopping and really nosed around.  I sure wouldn't have been out there if Cujo hadn't been locked up!!!!
We had lots of trouble getting the Eagle started so we could go look for our hotel.  That didn't go well, either.  The road to it is closed for construction.  We finally found it but it's too early to
check in.  We're in the lobby using their internet.
Our daughter can't get out of the Yorktown-Philly area because of flooding and mud slides.  The hopes to make it Friday.
Chas, if you see this before we find each other, check your PMs for a message.
