After a recent rainstorm I noticed that the passenger front floor carpeting in my '84 Eagle wagon is soaked. Hosed her down and did not see where the water is coming in from. What are the likely culprits?
Thanks!
Bad well nuts for the luggage rack.
Bad windshield seal.
Bad cowl/rusted

There is no rust on this car and the windshield is new so it is likely not those. The roof rack rails are loose so that sounds like that could be it! Is there a good source for the new well nuts?
Yup, the Eaglenest store.
I just experienced the same problem. Turns out the drain for the vent area in front of the windshield (you know, the slotted area between the hood and the windshield) drains out a hole on the passenger side that's hidden behind the fender. This hole is above hole for the radio antenna wire where it enters the cabin. On my car, the grommet for the radio antenna wire hole is gone, someone had used some plumbers putty as a fix but it has been jostled around and was no longer fitting tight. So the water was coming out one hole, dripping onto the antenna wire, and following it into the cabin. During a particularly rainy period two weeks ago, I ended up with about an inch of water on the passenger floor. You can test to see if this is your problem by running water into the grilled area behind the hood, and meanwhile watching through your open door into the fender area to see where the water is going. You should also be able to see water entering into the cabin while you do this if this is your problem.
Hope this is clearer than mud. Good luck, and if anybody has any suggestions for a permanent fix please let me know. I put some new plumber's putty in but I can see already that its probably not going to last. Thanks.
See if there is any 'lift' on the bolts on the luggage rack. If they are lose, they leak water down teh A Pillar on to the passenger floor. I used a gob of 3M weather sealant black putty like. It comes in a blue box.
Used clear silicone to seal up the roof rack rails and the floor is still getting wet. The front well nut grommets were most certainly shot tho.
How certain are you that its sealed.
Here is my wellnut thread:

You will probably need the M6x1 types.
Bad news is that I still have water coming in to the passenger footwell.
By any chance are the well nuts the same as those used on the 80's Grand Wagoneers? I just remembered I have a few bags of NOS well nuts for an 85 GW I no longer own.
Could well be (pun intended). Just unscrew one of the bolts and try if it fits.
You can check for size in my wellnut thread.
ok, take and give your bird a bath. A Very Powerful one, I am going to reserve comment on any culprit at the moment, But I have to ask, do you have a sunroof? Also if you don't see any sign of water damage on the head liner, Then you might want to look for other places that could have it before you give it a power soak and rule anything out as the area of leakage. Though I would like to hear your findings.
I lay odds the wiper cowl drain is plugged. My Spirit does the same thing if it sits a long time.
No sunroof and no wetness on the headliner. Will check the cowl drain.
