Title: thermal electric switch in air cleaner

just wondering is the thermal electric switch at the rear of the air cleaner is available anywhere, thanks

I don't think they are available new anymore. Maybe blaser or kennedy american has one. It probably wouldn't be that hard to make something work though. Are you sure that yours is bad?

well the rear casing is bubling as are the wires where they go into the sensor, im thinking it has an internal short

You can test it, it should have continuity below 55 degrees, and be open above 55 degrees.  If it is bad, and you cannot find one right away, you could just unplug for now since we are getting to the point where the temperature is almost always above 55 degrees, and since your engine is probably run more when its warm then cold.

They were available just a short time ago. They were used on all AMC and Jeep sixes of the era. If not someone here may have one.

If you need one, let me know.  I have  a large pile of stick air cleaners form Jeeps and Eagles.

RockAuto.com carries them (well, only three remaining) at $10.
It's under "emission".
