Well I'm trying to come with an idea for a center console and what to get a few ideas are there any car with a similar interior design that I could use or some ideas for home built one and if you've don this before I would
Like to see pics and any creative upholder ideas??
I swapped front seats from a 94 xj also took the armrest cupholder.
Cool
I know a case of beer fits perfectly between the seats of an sx/4 ( :footinmouth: better explain that, lol, had no where else to put it, the groceries took up the back seat, haha). Anyway, that gave me an idea of what to use as a mock up for when I do build a center console for the car. The size was about right (lentgh), also was about perfect armrest height.
Any pics of your set up mk?
Not the best pic and its acouple years old.

Nice! Looks to fit very well.
Ya it looks like it came like that would that fit with normal seats??
No
how much modifying did u do to those seat brackets? im guessing you still used the manual stock seat brackets
No brackets. I used 2x4's for spacers on all points except the front inner point and bolted it right to the floor. it sits lower than normal which gives more head room for me.wife has her own car to drive so the seat position is perfect and level.
I built this one. This is the 88 white woody.

I bought this one at jcwhitney and modified the base. It is in the 83 with the blue vinyl interior.

Both are moveable and can slide back and forth to made it easier to buckle the seat belt.

That console around you gear shift there where can I get one of that's for my eagle??didthey come in the later years of the eagle or something cause my 82 doesn't have one
Srry for the messed up quote but I didn't need the other stuff and forgot to move the quote thing up
I picked up a cheap plastic "console" at walmart. I don't have pics of it, it was just 2 cup holders and change holder. It slide in between the seats. I had to cut the bottom 3 inches off or so. It works OK, pretty wobbly. But for $4 I can't complain.
the only factory eagles that came with a center console/armrests where the VAM cars in Mexico to my knowledge
I bought floorboard consoles - without gauges - for both Eagles on the auction site - I think. I may have gotten one from someone on the Forum. I painted both with SEM Color Coat.

What was involved in the swap? Did they bolt right in? I have an sx4 and want narrower seats with a center armrest/cupholders and what you did looks like it would work for me.
Thanks!
There is no seat tracks they are bolted straight to the floor. i figured at my age i'm done growing. plus with no tracks it sits lower. i also wanted that. to space it level i used 2x4's to shim it. the inner front is unshimmed.
I put Cherokee seats in my Eagle and grabbed the Cherokee center console. The console was too wide and had the opening for the floor shifter but it didn't line up with the Eagle so I dumped that idea. I picked up a center console from a 2004 Saturn Vue and it fits perfect. Has a storage compartment and cup holders for front seat and rear seat passengers as needed.

There is no such thing as a "Mexican Eagle." The Mexican company "VAM" made Spirits, which they called "Rallys." They used the normal Spirit GT armrest, same as all AMC Spirits, and the seat frames had the same handle and mechanism as a '82 or '83 Spirit, except that the cushion part was distinctive to Mexico and looked different. The Spirit armrest is awesome, but it does not fit in an Eagle.
In my car I have a cupholder that has a beanbag bottom to it that wedges perfectly between the SX4 seats. I happen to define a true sports car as one that doesn't have a cupholder, so it needs to be easily removed and tossed in the back.

Sorry but My Miata has cupholders and it IS a true Sports Car.
I think the round cup holders in Miata's are sized specifically to ONLY fit a Venti, sugar-free, non-fat, vanilla soy, double shot, decaf, no foam, extra hot, Peppermint White Chocolate Mocha with light whip and extra syrup from Starbucks. :rotfl:
I bought one from jcwhitney and made a home made stand for the bottom.
I built another from wood.
There are no cup holders. I wanted some convenient storage and an arm rest.
This one is now in the blue wagon.
The last pictures of this one show the stand I made for the bottom.
The wood one in the 88 has a similar stand for the bottom.

Hey, I bought two of your carb kits, you should be nice to me! HAHA
BTW: MY cup holders can hold some pretty intense beverages. I don't drive a girl Miata, it has been BUILT for curve-carving.
I couldn't resist friend.
This comming from a guy who owns 2 Spitfires and a Jag...... (no cup holders though)
Wish I had pics of my home-made console. There are Eagles in Mexico, but not built by VAM although they were sold there with different interior options. I need cup holders because I am long gone from the days of holding my beverage between my legs as I drive! I had (Corbeau I think?) leather seats from a Cortina I parted long ago that I put in my old Eagle wagon, then put them in my '83 Cherokee till I sold it.
