Title: Lots of slop in rear hatch?
Post by: shanebo on March 07, 2011, 11:27:14 PM
On my wagon when the hatch is closed I can grab it and move it up and down nearly an inch while latched. there is alot of play in the latch!! My lifter shocks are pretty much toast, so there is no upward preassure on the hatch but it still seems like there should not be that much travel in it...Ive had other wagons and I dont recall ever having this much play. Is this a normal thing or do I have some problems in my future???

Any info greatly appreciated ;D

thanx
shane

i remember there being alot of slop in my hatch before i replaced my shocks. maybe not an inch but a noticeable amount. that might be all it is or some else might chime in with a better answer.

The new shocks will keep pressure down on the hatch locked.

The striker can be moved to make the hatch tight. 2 tight however and you have a hard time latching it. 2 loose it could let in rain or whatever else in. I have good shocks on both of mine. However I adjusted 1 to be tight. The other was tight.

Very cool....Ill have to go grab a set and adjust the striker and hopefully have a good functioning hatch ;D...not to mention that thing is heavy and Ive had it clobber the back of head twice now when the broom handle slipped out!

Vise Grips on the shock works wonders

I feel your pain -  literally!  Knocking out the broom handle helped me decided on new struts.
