Does anyone have or have seen a factory AM/FM/CB radio for the Eagle? I thought that was kind of neat when I saw it in the owners manual. I forgot that AMC had such a thing as an option. I doubt it was very popular though and probably pretty rare. I might be interested in buying one of these if anyone knows where I can find one.
Yeah; they are around. A decent complete working one usually goes for ~$250 on that famous auction site. They seem to mostly come out of Jeeps of that same era.
i have one in eagle eyes but it is pretty messed up and i'm not selling it because of the fact but if you want i have pics if you want to see what it looks like.
I have one that I pulled out of a Jeep. I haven't gotten around to seeing if it works yet. I just found an antenna that works with it. I also have an AM/CB radio that needs some wiring help.

the one in my eagle is the original. works o.k. but don't have any pics of it. i was thinking of replacing it w/ a new one.....
if anyone has one for sale i would be interested in purchasing it for my kammback
What was the last year for that option anyway? I know the whole CB/Smoky and the bandit phenoenon was kinda petering out in the 80's so I cant imagine a whole lot of people opted for that option...my buddies mom had an Eagle that had that option..Sadly she junked it to get an aftermarket cassete player.
From what I can tell from the dealer catalogs it was last offered in Eagles in '84 and the parts catalog suggests it was available in '85 but I doubt that as it seems to have been dropped when AMC when to the DIN configuration in '85.

85 could have been the last year to offer it using the shaft style radio plate ...... i have seen stanger things on an eagle ;D
Yeah, AMC could have done that to get rid of any extras. I am thinking that they may have been offered in Jeeps a bit longer. Not sure on that though.
It definatly seems it would have appealed to the jeeping crowd a bit more.... alot of American auto manufacturers at some point in the late 70's/early 80's offered a CB option...they were hot stuff at the time!!....and still are pretty cool!! id love to have one in my bird!!!
well if we ever manage to meet up you can see the one i have in eagle eyes it is a bit busted up but works for the most (receives signals but doesn't put out a signal).
This AM/FM Stereo CB radio option was manufactured by Mitsubishi and displayed in AMC passenger car showroom sales literature from 1978 through 1984. The sticker price of the unit installed in this 1978 Pacer was $299. Prior to 1978, various models of stand-alone Kraco and Johnson CB radios were offered as AMC dealer installed options.

Another vote for '84 being the last year for the factory version.
We do gotta meet up one of these days...Im gonna need to get some jeep stuff now too...Im going to upgrade Ginger to EFI...I saw several good candidates in the 29th st junkyard.....Ill let y know atleast a week in advance before I go down there.....oh yeah and I need to find a good P/S Eagle fender.
Id love to see that CB too ive only ever seen one in an eagle and that was when I was a kid.
Im with you on that doug...I vote 1984 too.
shanebo what did you do to ginger that you need a passenger side fender for? as for the EFI i know a much cheaper yard that has plenty of 4.0's.
She must have been in a fender bender at some point in her 28 years...someone tried bondoing it. The fender and door are kinda rippled..If I can find a good door I wouldnt mind having that too....Is that other junk yard in Pueblo too? Maybe we can make a day of junk yarding one of these weeks! I need a lot of bits and pieces.(http://i1208.photobucket.com/albums/cc377/shanebo79/2030.jpg)(http://i1208.photobucket.com/albums/cc377/shanebo79/2032.jpg)
Ive smashed up a few cars in my day, but thankfully though I cant take the credit for this one ;)
yes it is in pueblo and OUCH. at least it ain't to bad.
AM/FM/CB radios were available for all AMC's starting in about the mid 70's. When at the salvage yard look at all AMC's from that era. I had one in my 77 AMX, it had 40 channels and the antenna had a cool little red light that came on whenever you keyed the mic.
