Do you have any Spirit Sedan pictures? (Kammback)
Tony
Yes, I will get them on later.
OOOOOOOO :o, I like that console set up in the second pic down, was that a spirit or 2wd thing only or did it make it's way into the Eagle as well?
Spirit only. That console won't fit into an Eagle because the trans tunnel is different. The Spirit/Concord gauge package was stacked two over two as opposed the the Eagle's horizontal row of gauges. You will also see you could get a center armrest in a Spirit or Concord.
Hmmmmm, the center armrest is what I'm after, they're nice on long trips, lol, guess I'll have to make something.....
The Spirit AMX is definitely a sight to see... And in '79 with a 304... A person could actually show others who was boss ...in a compact
GENIOUS 8)
Spirits were by the standards from those days, subcompacts; Concords were compacts.

Here's one:

This was my first AMC, a 1981 Spirit Sedan. got it in 1988.

Alas, by 1979 the 304 was rather polluted out. A quick exhaust change and carb re-jet would really wake it up. Factory rating was 125hp and 220ftlbs, not much more than a 258.
I have an 80 Spirit with a 304 installed by a previous owner. With a slightly tweaked 2bbl, 998 trans, and the original 2.53:1 open rear I can get mid 16s at 83mph and still in 2nd gear. : )

i pulled one from the 79 amx i stripped.. that was initially the only reason i called on it, with full intentions of putting it in my SX/4. :-\ of course.. that doesn't work.. and on top of that I've got the really wide fat seats which makes it nearly impossible to fit anything between them already. but i wasn't willing to swap my seats either.
Though i'm sure you could alter one to fit.. they are, as you've probably found, a bit hard to get. (which would make it equally as sad to mess up a good one)
just this past month or so i've seen a couple really clean spirit sedans online going for a few thousand each.

I never understood why the actually called them a 'sedan'. A sedan usually refers to a car that has 4 doors AND a trunk. I always called it a hatchback.
Nice! I like the sedans in the brochures a lot.
The grill on the light blue sedan must be hard to find.
Tony
wow ! those leather/tan hiback seats in th above spirit/kamm iwant ! to bad they didnt put them in the eagles {did they?even special order?i ve never seen them ever spirit or eagle}also those cust/int door panels. woudnt it be nice to find a pair in mint cond!no way! the odds!! i can dream cant i , also i have used a sprit center console/armrest in strike apx 20 yrs ago couldnt emagine driving any veh. w/o a center arm rest got it at salvage yd removed front half , youll see when i post interior pics
Yes, it is shame AMC did not carry the hi-back leather buckets over into the Eagles.

I believe the grill is the standard grill for 79 and other years. Just black out the parts you don't want.

I take it that they would fit no problem though... or would the 'hump' in the eagle make putting a set of bucket seats from a Spirit into an Eagle a bit of a hassle?
You would probably need to use the Eagle mounts. I really wonder how many Spirits actually had leather seats?

It
should just be a matter of mating the Spirit seats to the Eagle tracks. I can't say with 100% certainty because I've never actually attempted it... however I do have a set of Spirit buckets and a set of Eagle SX/4 buckets to experiment with. ;D

They must be exceptionally rare. The Spirit was primarily supposed to be an economy car, so I'm amazed that AMC actually offered a Limited trim in it. How many budget conscious Spirit buyers would have sprung for the extra cost? Some dealers may have ordered a few in order to have the best possible product in the showroom.
I actually didn't even know there was such thing as a Spirit Limited until I saw one in a brochure recently. If I ever saw one for sale, or found one in the yard, it would definitely be coming home with me. ;D
