Title: 4 wheel drive system pics
Post by: Lateralus11 on February 09, 2011, 06:28:32 PM
Hi everyall,

So I was reading up on the previous posts about peoples' 4wheel drive not working, I have an 84, its got the lever on the dashboard that switches from 2 wheel to 4 wheel, I hear something engaging, like air, but 4 wheel doesn't work.  So I'm pretty sure its a leak in the lines.

I would like to know which lines under the hood are for the 4 wheel drive system.  If anyone has any pics that would be great thanks

Can I still engage my 4x4 Manually if my Air lines have a an Air leak???   Like in an emergency snow storm?

On my rig behind the carb plugged into the intake manifold is a T with a red and a black line going through the fire wall to the switch. If you can hear the switch it has pressure and my guess is the lines going from the switch to the t-case are fouled not the lines from the engine to the switch .Get under the car and check the lines for pressure while somebody operates the switch.Watch the lever on the t-case does it move? It should go from about 11:00 to 1:00.
if you just want to lock it this should do the trick

unless you have a front axle lock to then you need to do this to...
