Curious about this. At the minimum you'd have to pull the radiator, A/C Condenser and the grill out I'd think. You also have to pull the headlight trim to get the center of the grill out. The balancer would have to go, as would the alternator and A/C compressor if you have one.

Being a 4.2 the head has to come off and everything that is encompassed by that. If you're opening that can of worms a 4.0 HO setup is a nice upgrade while you're at it. May be a good time to do the swap.

MIPS:
-The head
--The manifolds
-The pushrods
-The lifters
-The timing cover
-The timing chain and sprocket
-The radiator fan
-The radiator
-The front grille (you do not need to take the headlight trim off
-The AC condenser (if equipped)
-The alternator

The cam, crank and connecting rods was the point where I determined to drop the entire engine out because it wasn't worth working inside the engine bay to get everything done.

When I had a shop swap in the 4.0 head, they also put in a new cam.  As others have mentioned, there was a lot pulled of the engine/engine bay at the same time, but it can be done without pulling the engine.

Thanks guys
