Rollinsville Yacht Club
« on: October 09, 2011, 04:34:29 PM »
Each year a friend of mine participates in a ride from the west side of Denver to the Rollinsville Yacht Club, which is an establishment next to a pond in Rollinsville, CO.  The Yacht Club is not something thats open to the public, and its not really a yacht club, but there are several cabins that the owner rents out, and there is a main building, which was our destination.

We headed out about 8 this morning with about 8 vehicles - my friend's Firebird, two Porshes, a modern day Corvette, a Mustang 350 GT, and a couple of others.  The owner of the Yacht Club was nice enough to serve us breakfast, complete with mimosas and bloody marys, and a great view of the Colorado mountains.  We drove up Golden Gate Canyon Road (average grade 8%, max elevation 8700+) to CO Highway 119.  There was one hill on Golden Gate Canyon Road where I was definitely wishing I had fuel injection.  I'm sure that we got up to 9000' somewhere along the route, and the Kammback did fine.  Everybody in the group commented on the Eagle!  On the way back we  stayed on Highway 119 through Black Hawk to Highway 6, and back through Golden.

Here are a few pictures I snapped at the Yacht Club.  I'll post more pictures when I get them from the other people that went.

Hey vangremlin. Where are the Yachts?

If you look at the picture with the teepee, you'll see a paddleboat or two on the other side of the pond.  Those are the yachts  :rotfl:

Here is a group photo.  It was nice of everyone to make sure they didn't block the view of the Kammback!
