Hello from Cow Town Alberta
« on: March 30, 2011, 06:45:02 PM »
Good afternoon all.....I am not new to the nest, kind of anyways. Although I don't own an Eagle, Concord, SX-4.....I do however own two J-10's and one recently went to Truck Heaven. I am intrigued by all your information that is very informative. I have learnt a lot in the past few months of reading and exploring the pages in this site.

:hello2: - Two thumbs up to all the AMC owners. So many varieties on here it is nice to see! I got to know AMC's through my other half. He rescued me in his eagle from work on roads that almost impassible, but that 4x4 Eagle made it through, that changed my mind towards his car.

I am a natural "Chevy" girl but have recently taken a liking to the J-10 Trucks. All together we own 6.

I will be posting pictures of our trucks and just wanted to say hi

From sort a  :newbie: to you more experienced AMCers

About time you formally introduced yourself, although many of us knew who you were already.  ;D

I got to know AMC's through my other half.

I like how you didn't say "better half"... 'cause between you and Duane, you're the better half of that combo.  ;)

Welcome!
I don't have an eagle either hah.. Although I do have 3 GM's and a Dodge.. lol
I wanted one, but all the ones around here are rotted or way overpriced so that's on hold.
I like the J10 pickups too. Let's see pictures!

This is where I love to come for Eagle info (or I phone Dean).

Speaking of pictures -
Most of us use free Photobucket accounts.
 www.photobucket.com
We recommend clicky pics.  This is a thumbnail picture that enlarges when clicked.
Photobucket has made a change in the way you copy the code.
Here is the way it looks to me:
For a single clicky pic, hover over the picture.  This will open a drop down menu.  Click on the fourth window, img.
It will then say "copied".
Go to the thread where you want to put the picture and paste it in.
For multiple clicky pics, hover over the pictures and click on the small box at the bottom of the picture.
Scroll down and click on "Choose action".  Click "Generate code for selected".
This will open another page.  Click on the third box, "IMG for bulletin boards & forums".  It will say "copied".  Paste it into the thread of your choice.
In both instances you can select "Preview" to make sure it is what you want before you post it.
I'm right 98% of the time, and I don't care about the other 3%.

We are working on that, the when.  It's being held here (as far as I know) but we haven't settled on the weekend yet.

Last year, it was held in late August, so it's being suggested late august again (whenever the long weekend in August is).  Here's the post on it.

At least you never had to actually work on it or deal with its former owner...  ::)

Call me a sucker for punishment, but part of me wouldn't mind getting a hold of it to see if I can actually untangle the rat's nest of wiring.  The electrical system in that car is an absolute nightmare, with all of the "fluff" that's been added over the years.  :o

@Dean:  I don't know of anyone else who has all the parts to fix it back to original... you have several wiring harnesses that you can fix it with.  And you have the knowledge.  But, do you have the time for it?

Someone to gut the stupid wiring issues, and fix it (you'd probably have to pull both wiring harnesses out, and just swap them with the ones you have), and other parts (steering column or holes in the dash) that were altered to take these mods...  and then pull off all those mods (the car alarm, the remote starter, the delay wipers he's had added, or anything else that's been done...)

Then someone to fix the patches on the frame and body (Even Char would laugh at the poor welds on that car), and then you'd have a good SX/4.

That car has been poorly fixed, and altered in the most 'dumb' ways, that even I was surprised.  The good thing about that car is it's drivetrain has been maintained, and there's alot of newer parts on it.  So it's a good base, but there's alot of work to be done on it.

That is going to happen Hawk......we won't let it go to anyone, they will have to respect the AMC name and the car. I just am not a car girl.....my other half knows that he has been trying with many AMC's out there and has not sold me on one yet.....In time!

I remember in my postings telling everyone that my other half - Duane!! was trying to sell me on an AMC......I have always been a truck girl and for some reason I have caved.

Last night Duane brought home for us a 1961 Rambler American Classic, A beauty in a light green she is. Her name is Roxy and she is awesome.

It is a standard - three on a tree and we are the second owners of her.  :hello2: The car is all original and it was parked in 1969, that is the last year of plates that is still on the car. This girl has travelled all over the United States from California to Arizona and many more places. :o

All she needs is a good tune up, brake work and tires (Yes she has the original tires and rims on her)....the interior is flawless and in immaculate condition. So I guess what I am saying is that this J-10 girl now lover the "Classic" beauty her hubby brought home.

I have been converterted.......Have a good night all :)

I guess this partially explains why you now have an Eagle and a J10 listed on Kijiji.

Duane is lucky to have you... if I brought that Rambler home, all I'd hear is "get that old piece of crap out of here".  ::)

Parked since 1969?  :o  Where did you find it?  And a three on the tree... I shudder at the thought of trying to drive that.

The Eagle and J-10 were listed well before we found this girl :)

I am in awe that she is so perfect, she has some minor surface rust, but with a little elbow grease and a really good cleaning, she is nearly perfect.

There is one small hole rust spot on the drivers side bottom by the door, but other than that she's an  :angel13:

Supporting him only makes me wanting to be part of it.....thanks for the compliment Dean :) it meant a lot

She was listed on Kijiji yesterday morning when he was surfing it and came to see me for lunch showed me it and he called the guy on the way home and went to our famous area for buying vehicles.....Sylvan Lake...it belonged to the fellows father in law who passed away and did not want to give it to the kids, cause they wanted hot rods ;) lucky for us........

The three on a tree will be okay once you are use to it, my uncles farm had an old Chevy farm truck that was three on a tree and that is where I learnt to drive my first standard :)

I know how Duane feels.  My wife Carol puts up allot from me, she even goes for Eagle Cruises with me.

She was very helpful when I was looking, and she was willing to help me afford a US car, (two that I was close to getting) just so I could get my eagle.

Now, I don't think she'd be as nice if I had a fleet of these things, but she's cool about Flicker.

Yeah, Duane is even more lucky then me.  You're into it, Carol is just ok with it.

I look at it like this:

Duane has his collection that is his collection (Support it)

I have my collection that is my collection (Love it)

But our collection together is what makes it more united.....hey guys have a great idea.......get a car that is an "Our" car and maybe, just maybe they would turn around....

What can I say, some girls are into it and getting down and dirty to help their crazed car nut men and others aren't......just because they don't help, doesn't mean that they don't deep down inside like it......Dean bring you wife on a date night to the next car club meeting....she might have fun once she sees all the neat cars, that is what turned me around dude :)

Amazing.  The last time that car saw the road, Flower Power was in full effect.  :hippy:

It's encouraging to know that those "barn finds" we all dream of are still out there.  Is the missing rear bumper guard in the car somewhere, or do you have to go looking for that elsewhere?

Duane and I talked about that and neither one of us noticed it was missing...... :rotfl:

We will be hunting one down....D changed the rear diff fluid and it was like this black sludge probally was not changed for years. She had an oil change and then a "Big" puddle of antifreeze came a pouring out while she was running....

"Air lock" cause she runs great now, we took her out last night and she is sweet......
