If you have an Automatic Transmission.  It's an AMC or Chrysler 998 which is a variant on the Chrysler torqueflite 904. And service parts, rebuild kits, and valve bodies (manual or automatic) are readily available for.

And if it's a manual 5 speed, it's a Borg Warner T5.

Stock Automatic Series:
Chrysler Torqueflite 998 LOCKUP 3-spd RWD (6-bolts to transfercase)
Floor shifter option

Stock Standard Series:
Borg Warner T-5 5-spd NWC
Hydraulic clutch option

The current day options make both of these look antiquated though they still serve an incredibly convenient purpose.
