Title: T5 transmission crossmember compatibility
Post by: atmafox on April 23, 2021, 04:05:41 PM
Hello!

I have a 1980 AMC Eagle 258cu I am converting to manual.  I've already sourced a 1983 T5, flywheel clutch pedal assembly, and clutch master cylinder.  It's my understanding that this has the same length as the TF998 that she came with so should be relatively bolt up.  Will I need a different transmission cross member?  If so I've heard certain years of Cherokee and Comanche have them but I'm unsure.

I'm not sure this is covered so specifically anywhere else, at least I didn't come up with it in my search.  Just trying to get my parts list together so I make sure I have everything. (=

Thank you!

I swapped in a sr4 trans from automatic. the crossmember is completely different than the automatic.

When tougeagle converted his eagle from automatic to manual he had to custom build a cross member. Which I'm going to have to do as well because I'm going to be doing the same thing eventually.

I just managed to score one off an '83 Eagle.  Hoping it will fit my '80.

Thanks!

Congrats on the score as far as I'm aware all Eagle manual cross members are the same so there shouldn't be any issue of it working on yours.
