WonderEAGLE and jim got home about 1:30 Monday.  We had to play tricks with the choke amost every time we started it except first thing in the morning.
It died on the road a couple of times.  I pulled off the road and it died and I did the choke thing and it started.
It died going down a long hill and I couldn't get it started.  It didn't want to turn over and my jumper battery didn't help.  A good samaritan stopped and helped us jump it.  It has often turned slow when hot and then turns ok when cool.  I have had the starter checked and I load tested the battery.  The starter relay was too hot to touch, and the coil was also pretty hot.  I'll replace the relay and try the coil I have put back for the 88.  It was getting fire from the coil with the jumper cables but it had been a while since it quit.  We drove another 3 or so hours with no problems.
The Motorcraft carb is ordered from Gronk.
We are definitely glad to be home.
We have a lot to do if we're going to take this poor ol' bird to Wyoming next year.

Jim, a trip through Wyoming sounds amazing. Hope all the issues have been resolved by then!

An EGG for the good Samaritan that helped you out! :)

congrats on finally getting you an Eagle dude.

Thanks. I'm excited to say the least.

Eaglefreek! I loved that Hornet Sportaround too. What a neat little car. I was under the impression that the new to me Eagle won the Best Wagon trophy... Did TQ win best in show?

We were helped on the way to the Omaha meet last year, and now this year.  We did stop twice on this trip to offer help to others, but they didn't need help.  We tried.
We seem to always receive more than we give, both on the road and at the meets.
We are very appreciative.

1572.1 miles
85.736 gallons of gas
18.336 miles per gallon - better than I expected.  I'm not disappointed in the mileage.

Most of my pictures would be duplicates of those already posted.  I'll put up a few eventually.
Tomorrow's a work day. >:(

Yep Jim is right  about the BIRD having to have lots done to it before we take off to Wyoming.
I have been to Wyoming a few times and believe me the BIRD wouldn't be able to pull itself up one of them mountains like it should.
I can also remember some of the roads up there don't have much of a shoulder to pull off on either, and it is a long way down to the bottom of some of those scenic over looks.
We do appreciate all the help we got on getting the doors changed out.
Rollguy I liked the pictures you sent yesterday of you and the farmer.
That was neat. Those folks up there are really friendly. I noticed that everywhere I went.
We enjoyed our trip, but that bed that I am a couple of feet away from sure is looking good to me.
I hope everyone had a safe trip home. We had good weather all the way. No rain.
Thanks Mav, &  Shelly. Hug those two beautiful well mannered girls for me.
I sure enjoyed being around all of you.
Good to see Rick, Rich, Ron, Earl, Mark, Jason, Prafeston, & Fiance.
Maybe our paths will cross again one day.
Stay well and safe. :)

Jim and Caroline, I'm sorry to hear about all your trouble, but glad you made it home safe. I hope once you kick the Carter to the curb your car will run flawlessly.

You were close Eaglefreek. The spelling is Rafe. Last name Preston...hence the pRAFEston. Little combo of both my first and last name I've been using on the net for some time now.

So far the Eagle has been getting much praise from my friends and coworkers...with the exception of a few that just don't get it and think I paid entirely too much for a car made in 1983! :)

Looks like a great time!  That's cool the Cordova shirts had an Eagle on it.  Gratz to the trophy winners.

2012 Buffalo Wyoming awaits!  The gateway to the Big Horn mountains.  I GPS'd my elevation at the house 5040ft.  4600ft in town.  And for those not easily winded, 9650ft over Power River Pass, but that's way up there on the mountain, my 4.0 headed, cammed, injected, exhaust, etc wagon was weazing on that one.  Plenty to see and do in the 6-8k range.

Glad the 2011 meet was a great success!  See you in 2012!

I'll be very happy to make it to 5040.
It'll be about 1300 miles for us.
At least it'll be downhill coming back!

ALready thinking ahead to plan for it. When will it be? I ask because my Eagle is going into teardown this month and it may take at least a year to finish it.
