Title: Error
Post by: Taylor on November 25, 2020, 06:36:02 PM
Apparently I made a mistake is editing the donation button.
Therefore I had to change the forum template.
The good thing is I was able to get the google translate working.
I’ll update again later.

Is it possible to install a responsive template so the site looks good on mobile?

What type of mobile device are you using? There might be a setting I need to change for a specific os on specific devices. I usually use my iPad.have t had any problems. Can you post a couple screen shots so I can get a idea of what I need to do? I am actually getting ready to do some testing on a windows 10 pc, to see if anything is odd there.
Thanks,
Taylor

I see the same desktop view on my iPhone, but the text is so small it's unreadable.

Have you considered switching from SMF to phpBB? I run a number of phpBB car forums and it's really great, it adapts to any size device so mobile views look good. You are being penalized by Google because you are not mobile optimized.

Not my site but see http://forum.merkurclub.com/forum/index.php for an example of a phpBB car forum. Looks good on any mobile device by default using built-in responsive template.

Looks like this.

OK wait I don't see any way to attach a screenshot.

I’ll look into that.
Thanks for the heads up.
Also when posting pictures, you can access the attachments just below the text window. See “attachments and other options”

There is no option to attach pics. When I click "Attachments and other options", I see:

When you click on “Attachments and other options”
This should show up.

FWIW, the 'attachment box' doesn't show up for me, either.

I'm running Firefox as my browser, if that helps.

Interesting that doesn’t show up.
I use safari, Firefox and edge on my iPad. Safari and Firefox on my iMac. No problems.
What operating system on what type/kind of device are you accessing the site?
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Think I just figured it out (for my system at least).  I'm running Firefox under Windows 7 on a big 8-core AMD desktop machine.

By default, I use 'private' windows in Firefox for everything... in fact, that's the main reason I use Firefox, because of their emphasis on privacy and anti-tracking.  As an experiment, I just tried opening the Den in a normal (i.e., 'non-private') window.  The attachment box now shows up.

Woodgrain, you might try the same thing if you're running Firefox.  You would only need to do it when you need to add some pictures...

I am using Safari, I just went in and made sure I didn't have any weird settings on my browser and it still does not allow me to attach anything. I turned off "Enable content blockers" for this site.

EDIT: I replied to a topic in another forum and I do see the attachment option there. I'm guessing I don't have permissions in the "updates & news" forum to use the attachments.

I really think you should look into phpBB. It's free, mature, mobile friendly out of the box. It's really a huge upgrade in terms of forum operation and friendliness. https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=666&t=2559021

Are you still having problems with attachments?
Still trying to figure out why is going on with attachments. The maximum size for a attachment is about 5MB, I think there might be another problem with uploading.

I have not tried attaching in the other forums lately.

Edit: I tried adding an attachment in another forum. When I click "Choose file" nothing happens.

It could be you internet connection. I am in the same location that I was yesterday (coastal NC) and couldn’t get a photo posted. It was about 2mb. I transferred it to my phone reduced the size and it posted no problems. Today I posted directly from my iPad a 2.1mb photo no problems. I think my home connections are much faster than the one here.

It’s not connection related. I don’t get the option to upload.

Got this last night. About 8:50

I don’t think it lasted long. I received a email from tech support at 11:17 last night and it was fine.
Anyone else see this?
