Big 'Wholesale/Closeout' sale of AMC parts at RockAuto
« on: January 14, 2015, 08:53:43 PM »
I got an email from RockAuto with a link that to a huge list of AMC parts on sale.  I think this list is customized for my car (1984 wagon with the 258 and a 5-speed), but you can probably fool around with RockAuto's site to generate one for your Eagle...

I want to, BUT the changes I'm making may screw them all up. The custom upper arm may not use Eagle balljoints. The S10 axles may be the longer style that could bind up.... Brand new for $35 each!

hi, it's nice to get deal, and I will buy some parts, BUT, does this mean that RockAuto is starting to discontinue AMC parts? Anyone have the inside scoop on this? gz

Rockauto and others as they also get leftover stock from other suppliers.

That was quite a list. The cylinder sleeve interested me. Supposedly all you have to do is to cut it to length. I assume a person has the cylinder bored 3/32" over to fit that thickness. After that is it pressed into place on an arbor press or can someone like me do it cave man style & use a hammer. Do they stay in place without slipping? I ask because I need to do this or have it done on a scooter project of mine.

You have to bore the cylinder with a step near the top. The replacement cylinder has a step to hold it in place. Pressing keeps the cylinder from distorting. I had to sleeve the 375 hp 396 in my '66 Pontiac Grande Parisienne so I watched the shop do it. (I still use them for and heavy machining I need doing. The rack of trophies they have from building race engines speaks for itself.

Thanks for the heads up. Ordered a front half shaft and some cheap fan belts from them.
