Failed emissions, CO too high

Yep, dirty oil is can be a big factor in failing the test.  I had a relatively new car fail the test, changed the oil, no more problem.

Colorado is funny with emissions....Some counties are super strict and other counties dont even require emissions i live in El Paso county and we dont have to have emissions...thank god cuz none of my cars would pass.

The altitude can cause some problems too especially if your car is adjusted for sea level.

To add to this, I'm in CO and had an Eagle fail emissions testing a couple years back. I tried leaning it out with various mixtures of E85 - it knocked down my CO but raised my NOx failing emissions. After several rounds of this, I found the issue - I had a hole in my exhaust pipe. After plugging with JB Weld, immediately passed on regular, no E85 needed.
