Improving General Performance
« on: July 20, 2018, 11:51:21 AM »
I have an 1981 SX4 with the 151 iron duke and I'm wondering if there are a few things I can do to improve it's general performance. The engine and the carb were completely rebuilt, but I still feel like it's too sluggish and isn't reaching it's full potential (especially on acceleration). It just seems like it's working harder than it needs to be while under normal driving conditions. I swore I saw something about converting the carb to direct injection years ago on this forum, but I haven't been able to find it since. Is that a common or even possible swap? If not, do you have any other ideas on how to improve it's performance?

Thanks in advance!

I did a quick search online and found someone that did the upgrade in their jeep.  Kind of an older thread but you may be able to get some info from it. Good luck!!
