nope, it's not hard.  it's a control module (black box with wires and two connectors) that plugs into the back of the switch (switch also has to be intermitted.)  then you plug the cable to that.

I think mine is fried (intermitted wipers are screwed) so only the high speed works.  I'm pulling mine out.

I just added intermittent wipers to my 1980 Concord back in December.  It's an easy plug-and-play installation, no modification of wiring or anything like that required.

All you need is an intermittent switch and the control module that goes with it.  You just remove your old switch, disconnect it from the wiring harness at the big semi-circular connector, and install the new switch/module combo in its place.

When I did mine, I guess I should have slowed down a bit and taken some pictures along the way for a future "how to" tutorial.  It's all back together now though, and I'm not about to take it all apart again.  ;)

Is this the steering column mounted intermittent switch, or dash mounted..? I have the two speed dash mounted switch, and would love to convert to column mount...

Obscurity, I think it was, had a post about this recently, and there have been other write ups.  You might do a little searching.

I'll definitely have to do that. I know a steering column isn't a huge deal to do, but I'm gonna avoid that if at all possible... Another one of those times when I wished I had snagged some parts off that Eagle identical to mine at the yard two years ago...I would have grabbed the column then

GM put turn signal stalk mounted wiper controls on a lot of their cars that use the same steering column. If you could find something like a late 80s Olds Cutlass in the junkyard, you could probably get the parts and just rewire them to the eagle, which should be really easy compared to hooking up and efi system. I assume that the turn signal stalk would screw into the AMC column with no mods, just a guess on that though.

There must be some kind of dash mouted stock one.The Money Pit II has one,it looks stock and is where the regular one would go.Turned to the left is intermittent and right is low/high.

IIRC the wiper switch in the eagle is the same one that was used on the 80's Ford F Series trucks

I got a column from a concord that was a wrong size for a eagle

It is even in the How To's in the Eaglepedia:

http://www.amceaglenest.com/~iowaeagl/guide/index.php?title=Wiper_Switch_Replacement/Upgrade

If you search the famous bay for "ford F150 wiper delay" you will have several hits showing the same set up as in the Eaglepedia.
I think that several members here sell them as a upgrade.

Probably has to do with the fact that most Concords have column shift and all Eagles came with floor shifts.

Not what I was saying. However this was floorshift not column.

Sorry, I was a bit confused. What exactly were you saying?

Someone mentioned any old saginaw column would work. I was saying it would not. Atleast that is how I interpretted what another was saying. No need for apoligies. Haha together we get all info out.

I know of a yard around here that has several eagles, two of which have my same interior color, and column mount intermittent wipers. The long thin connector at the base of the column under the dash is where that wiring connects to the main block, I remember every cavity had a wire in it on that junkyard eagle with the intermittent control, and mine only has a few cavities with wires in them, so i'm sure it's probably plug and play. Question is what to do about the dash mounted one.... I could always delete that and put a driving light switch in its place.... or maybe an activation button for a mystery anti-theft system........underbody flamethrowers have had some success.... >:D

AMC only used the dash mounted switch in their cars.   Not sure about Jeep.  We have a write up in the Eaglepedia.  Its a fairly simple upgrade.

Ok, got ya. But what I said was, that the turn signal/wiper control stalk from any saginaw column might screw into Eagle column, where the turn signal stalk screws in.

Tougeagle: Are you sure it wasn't cruise control instead of wiper control. AMC mounted their cruise control on a fatter turn signal stalk. Like IE said, AMC only used dash mounted wiper controls.

I could have sworn it was for wipers, but you may very well be right :) If so, that makes life even easier.

the wiper control mounted on the turn signal stick is a pain to wire in ....... when i replaced one in a cutlass i had i could only get low and high to work.  I stick to the stock unit if I had to put delay wipers in an eagle.  On a side note it took me weeks to figure out i had delay wipers in my wagon because i never tried to move the wiper switch left rather than right

Ok, if I change the wiper switch on my 88 will that remedy my washer problem? It squirts once and then quits. Dash mounted switch.
that could be the pump on the washer bottle.  take a lest light or a muti meter and hit the washers and see if you have power to the pump and it you keep getting power

Not sure about that. I would test it with a voltmeter at the connector of the washer motor and have someone else push the button. If there is a positive every time the button is pushed then the washer motor may be on it's way out.

If I change over to intermittent, will the wipers sweep automatically when I squirt the windshield or do I still turn them on? I'm hoping I still turn them on, I hate automatic sweep, seems to always turn one or two times too many...

As others have posted, it's not to difficult.

nope.  it's a control module that plugs into the back of the switch (switch also has to be intermitted.)  then you plug the cable to that.

I think mine is fried (intermitted wipers are screwed) so only the high speed works.  I'm pulling mine out.

On the intermittent wipers there is a ground wire that goes from the switch and usually grounds to the headlight switch.  With that ground disconnected only high works.
