Hi All!
This is our Eagle Motel year! I hope we can get several Eagle Den members to join us. As always the date will be the first or second weekend in October. In 2012 we has 35 Eagles and 60 people make the trip. I hope this year we can beat that. I am working on 3 more cars that I hope to have ready in time, a wagon, a coupe, and a sedan. I they are all ready and I have the drivers I will take 23 cars from my collection. Feel free to email me with any questions you have and if you want to sign up. This will be the largest group of Eagles parked together since they were built.
I hope you can make it!

I have reserved the motel for October 11th and 12th. We will leave Rambler Ranch on Saturday morning about 10AM. Lets make this the largest gathering of Eagle's ever! We had 35 cars 2 years ago, I would love to see close to 50 this year. Feel free to email me at [email protected] if you have any questions.

Count me in. If you get the TD Eagle running, I want to be the first to drive it (on the Eagle Motel trip that is). Lord willing, I will have my 4 door sedan going by then.......Rich

You end up keeping the Orange one in your sig?

I'm in!!! :eagle:

-
I'll be there! I don't want to miss rollguy singing the Beer Barrel Polka lol. Seriously, this is a great trip and anybody that can make it out will have a super fun time.
-
I plan on going, I hope to bring both of my Eagles, the '82 SX-4 and the '83 wagon.
-
I certainly plan on being there. I've been looking forward to this for quite some time.
-
Howdy from Texas,
Terry is one of my best friends and I can guarantee that he makes sure this trip is AWESOME! If your an AMC Eagle fan (which most everyone on here must be) or just a person looking for a fantastic and fun filled trip in beautiful Colorado, this is the one. Imagine over 30 AMC Eagles driving in a line from Elizabeth, Colorado to Maintou Springs, Colorado (an over 50 mile one way trip) through idyllic mountain scenery! Start making your plans now for this wonderful trip and long live AMC :amc:
I will see everyone there!
Gig'em,
Dan

I am in and will be driving my Eagle all the way from Akron, Ohio! I have already requested the first two weeks of October off of work. I can't wait!
-
I definitely plan on going at this point, but I'll have to wait til a bit closer to Oct. before I'll know for sure.
-
There will be two of us coming from Kansas again. Really enjoyed our last trip. Its a must do for an AMC / Eagle fan.
-
Wish I could guarantee it to be 2 more from Kansas but not sure about finances or kids.
Looked like fun since I first saw it..
-
If I am satisfied with my restification of the SX/4, I will strongly consider that long of a trip.
-
looks like we will have people from at least 6 states joining us! Lets make this the biggest Eagle sighting ever! I would love to see 45 Eagle's or more. I will check with the motel to see if the second weekend words for them, I will post the date real soon.
I look forward to seeing you all at Rambler Ranch in October!
-
Any of you planning to come in from out of state, make sure you arrive at least a day early to make sure you have lots of time to see the Rambler Ranch. The couple of hours allocated on Saturday morning aren't enough to take it all in.
-
Good advice Van!
-
Yes, definitely. I am planning a full week and half to two weeks for this, so I will plan accordingly. I am going to Arizona after the meet for a few days too.

Maybe even a couple days early, so you can do some sight seeing. If weather is good, the Peak to Peak scenic byway, a ride up Pike's Peak or Mount Evan's is a great way to spend a day. Unfotunatey, I can't plan that far ahead, but really want to make it. Rob(AMC1320) and I have briefly talked about driving out there for the meet.
-
I'll definitely get in touch with some of you who know that area better so I can do the same. I'll be bringing camping supplies (whether or not I actually camp is left to be said)

If you guys go this year the Missouri/Kansas guys could join the convoy on your way through.
-
Looks like its 771 miles for me. Thru Iowa, Nebraska and then Colorado.
-
812 for me. That's to the Eagle Motel. It's nearly a straight shot West from here. I'll go about 2 hours north to I-70 which takes me all the way there! Sure hope I can make it!

Look near the beginning of this thread, I asked the same question.

If I have the money for the trip and my Eagle is running well enough, I'll try to make it.

you did? I can't find it. you said you plan on going, but I don't see any answers. that picture sums it up pretty good though. Was it just some motel you found or does it actually have something to do with something?
-
The Motel is literally called the Eagle Motel. It's just a convenient place to meet! :)
-
This is part of the activities that go with the Rambler Ranch Eagle Meet. We cruise from the Rambler Ranch stop for Lunch along the way and everyone spends the night at the Eagle Motel in Manatou Springs. This photo is from the 2012 meet. If you click on the image you can see a slide show of that event. Its way cool to see a bunch of Eagles soaring down the road all at one time.
-
I wish this were mine!
Thought I could IMG code the photo I was talking about, but it didn't work. Here is the link.

I wonder how many people stroll down the parking lot when you guys are there.
"I didn't know it continued on here, I thought this was the parking lot" ;D
-
I think most of the hotel guests the weekend of the meet are Eagle owners! :)
-
haha, no I meant at the ranch.
-
haha, no I meant at the ranch.
The Rambler Ranch is privately owned car museum and iirc during the meet Terry pretty much has it reserved just for the event.
The museum is made up of several buildings on the Rambler Ranch estate. This private museum may be viewed by car club members by having the president of your club contact Mr. Gale and setting up an appointment for your club to view the cars. There are several buildings to tour through in this lovely rural mountain estate. The Nash building was the first one built and the gigantic AMC Building was completed in 2007. It also contains the new “lounge” which is filled with period furniture. You can easily believe you stepped back in time when using this facility. American Motors, Nash, DeSoto, Dodge, Chrysler, Edsel, Chevrolet, Ford, Renault, Rolls Royce, Porsche, Kaiser, Studebaker, Wolsley Packard, Fiat, Mercedes, BMW, Vauxhall, Lincoln, Mercury, Allstate, Opel, Jeep, Bricklin Funwagon, Citroen, Pontiac, Acura, GMC, Honda and more are represented in the museum. This facility offers a unique opportunity to car fans of all ages. Food Services are available upon request. There is a lounge inside as well as a outdoor area with many tables and chairs. The museum not only contains hundreds of cars but thousands of various types of memorabilia. Visit the Rambler Ranch website for more information at www.ramblerranch.com

Allstate? I'm obviously to young, so inform me. Like the insurance company, Allstate?

Allstate? I'm obviously to young, so inform me. Like the insurance company, Allstate?
lol No, but maybe that's where they got their name... no clue there.
Allstates were only made from 1952-1954 and sold thru Sears, Rhoebuck.
You can read all about them here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allstate_%28automobile%29
-
A car sold for 2 years at a department store. That's great. I assume they went under real fast and were absorbed by something else, like everything else not GM, Ford, or Chrysler. Thank god for Wikipedia, I like reading up on weird things like this.
-
didn't even look at the wiki. it was a ford/lincoln.
-
didn't even look at the wiki. it was a ford/lincoln.
Actually a Kaiser rebadged as an Allstate and sold only at Sears.
Allstate Insurance was originally owned by Sears, but was spun off in the 90s.
Anyways, the Rambler Ranch is something that should not be missed. Pictures do not do it justice, you have to see it and experience it first hand.
-
when we get a little closer to time maybe we can form up some kinda caravan (or is it convoy) from the east. Im in Tennessee so pretty much due west for me.
I hope to go and drive my Eagle there, its a LONG LONG way though.....
Rob
-
Yeah, you guys would be coming right through Missouri.
-
A car sold for 2 years at a department store. That's great.
My grandfather bought his house through the Sears catalog back in the 1920's.
-
I guess you truly could buy anything through the Sears catalog!
-
That's awesome. Imagine buying a car or house from a department store now.
IKEA build-a-house or car. :rotfl:

I am very excited about the Eagle Motel trip this year, I am working on 3 more Eagle's than I took 2 years ago so if I have enough drivers I will take 22 cars. Roger ( Rambler Ranch mechanic ) is planning on bringing 8 cars. I also have a new place to tour that I'm sure everyone will enjoy. So far we have people coming from 6 states! I hope we get a few more, you have plenty of time to get your cars ready for the trip to Colorado. I have reserved the motel for October 11th and 12th. We will leave Rambler Ranch on Saturday morning about 10AM. Lets make this the largest gathering of Eagle's ever! We had 35 cars 2 years ago, I would love to see close to 50 this year. Me and my GF are getting married in April and a few things are still up in the air, but this meet is on my priority list. If we both come she might be able to drive an Eagle if you'd let her and if she didn't mind not riding with me for the trip to the motel.
-
Hopefully my new coupe will be on the trip!
-
If I can convince the Wife to fly into Denver would transportation be available? Wish the Kammback would be ready by then but time is short and so is money..
-
Maybe Dave or one of the other CO guys could pick you up.
-

@SpreadEagle...I would think one of us Colorado people could do so. And my wife would be delighted to socialize with your wife. Are you proposing to fly into Denver or Colorado Springs?
-
I may have to fly in too, I can catch deals on airfare to Denver for pretty cheap sometimes
Plus the thought of 1200 mile drive (one way) in ANY car makes my back hurt.....

Lol,
I knew you would say that !
I got a lot more miles on me than my eagle ......

What's better in life, than cruising down the road with nothing weighing down your mind, and fun ahead of you? I love a good road trip. But I guess im still young. One of my favorite thoughts right now is going to one of these meets, in an eagle that I fixed up. Not anytime soon, but ill make it.

Im with ya there, I've been dreaming of takin my mustang on Hot Rod Power Tour for a few years now. And going to the eagle meet would be awesome too. The rambler ranch sounds pretty sweet.
-
I can't wait for this. Hopefully my car is in good enough shape, but I have all summer to get it up to par. I just bought a "new" used car, so I don't have to drive the Eagle every day. It definitely makes it easier for longer projects (although, to admit, I get things done quicker when it is my only car!)
-
Unfortunately it's looking like I won't be able to bring my Eagle, but I'd still love to make it and will gladly drive one of the beauties from the Rambler Ranch to the Hotel!

That is one less friend that Terry will have to enlist!

Are there specific dates yet? I will be taking 10-14 days off of work, so I do need to start planning this. Thanks!! :blob1:

drock87, looks like its Oct 11 & 12. Plan to spend Oct 10 at the Rambler Ranch also, because the couple hours on the 11th before the caravan leaves isn't enough to take it all in!
-
Great! This gives me a plan. I'll probably leave Akron on the 7th to get there on the 10th. Still a long ways away. Hopefully some of the people in the KC/Iowa area will be going so we can caravan....that is a long drive by myself in my rickity 30 year old car...but heck, we'll be fine 8)

Well at least you will be in good company when you get there!

HI I want to go to but I to have restriction's on travel .I have to stop every 1/2 hour and walk around ..it would take for ever ...later ............don

I am planning to have t-shirts made with original Eagle ads printed on the back of the shirt. If you are interested in buying a shirt I need the size and model you want on the shirt. I have original ads for wagons, SX 4's, Kammback, Coupe and 4 door sedans. I do not know the price yet but it will be very reasonable.
I will also have calendars made with pictures of previous Eagle Motel trips. If anyone is interested I need to get a count to to figure the price.
I also need to get a head count for the tour we will be going on and the catered lunch. So please let me know if you are coming and how many are coming with you.
Thanks, Terry
-
I'd be interested in a large sx4 shirt
-
Terry there will be 4 of us with two Eagles
-
I think it would be best to PM Terry the sizes. PM on the way Terry....Rich

In case the Eagle Motel fills up and/or you may wish to camp, there may be a camping option nearby. A friend of mine's girlfriend's family owns the Golden Eagle Campground that isn't too far from the Eagle Motel. About 15 miles away. They usually close September 30th, but if there is enough interest, she said they may open for a few days to accommodate us. Just a note, Colorado weather can be on either ends of the spectrum in October. It could be beautiful fall weather or a snow storm. When we get closer to the date, I'll see how many are interested. http://goldeneaglecampground.blogspot.com/
-
Cool! Good to know Rick.
Me and Andrea are currently in Utah and our contract with Aramark is supposed to end on October 29th. I might see if we can just leave early so I can make the trip on our way back to Missouri. I sure hope I can make it! Unfortunately it wouldn't be in the Eagle since it's back in Missouri.
-
Ugh. After all this planning, my job will not give me two weeks off in a row. I may still try to take the week and fly into there and rent a car, but it is up in the air again. Not happy, but I sorta get it...there are only four of us in MB sales here. :-\
-
I just got my vacation approved and reserved our room at the Eagle Motel. :blob1:
-
I've also reserved a few nights in the Eagle motel.

Mick! Are you caravaning out with anyone? Maybe I can hitch a wagon on with you guys. I am going to try to make it.
Probably in the 79 AMX rather than the Kammster... but will try!
-
I've had a busy summer and totally forgot about this. Count my whole family in (4 of us). I have been trying to recruit drivers but nobody I've talked to has shown any interest.
Do you still need drivers, Terry?
-
j2sax, get one of those Kammbacks going! And bringyme the other!
-
My work said they are going to work it out so that I can make the meet. I reserved a room for the 11th. :blob1: I'll be sharing the room with Paul aka Strike Eagle. :o

Thats great news! I picked up a sample tee shirt today, they are great!

It is going to be a miracle if I make it there with my sedan. I have the guy I bought the car from coming on Sunday to help me put it back together. If for some reason I don't get the sedan together in time, I would be happy to drive one of Terry's Eagles. I plan to be there, Eagle sedan or not.....Rich

I, too, was granted time off from work to attend this event. I believe it was 2007 that I attended my first Eagle Motel event and haven't missed one since.
I just finished transmission work on my Eagle. I was concerned a couple of weeks ago that I wouldn't have it back together, or that I wouldn't have enough miles on it to be confident. Both concerns have been addressed, and I'm going to drive our Eagle to the event. :eagle:
