Gil is Worried

GilSX/4 is worried.  He sees little activity here and is wondering why folks don't post more.  I shared with him that our regulars are probably wanting to see the dust settle.  What do you think?

Or the members on the other sites need to be made aware that it is here. I check all 3 lately, but try to post here and on the 'Nest. I am also wondering what Ken is up to. I have not heard from him or Paula for a few weeks. I hope he is not in the hospital again....Rich

Ken is still around.  He sent Gil and I couple of messages during the past couple of days.  I think he is undergoing treatments again which do wipe you out.

I think part of the issue with the "nesters" not appearing here for the most part is they are scared of the site, just because of how it appeared out of the blue. but look at most of that crowd.  how many people do you think over there know who gil or iowaeagle is?  most have only been a member while it was under steves control, in the meantime, the veteran members are either trying to stay under steves good side, or have been banned altogether. [suspicious]I think if we could use amceaglenest as a url and name, that would already attract people just by the name. [/suspicious] I hope ken is doing all right, and hope to see him on the forums when he can be.

Ken is on right now.  I think you are right.  Perhaps when the new look and content appears we can be a bit more aggressive in our marketing.

OK -- I kind of remember that.  I think my kids were older when that came out.  I am not worried.  When things settle down and the new look and format comes out, we will do well.  We just have to keep everybody healthy.

Hi Guys.  I hadn't been on the "Nest" in a while. Didn't know about this site until I got an email from Gil. It's GREAT that you now have the "DEN" to maintain the original design of how the "Nest" should have stayed.  Even though I no longer have an AMC Eagle, I still think it is one of the best cars ever designed and made. Glad to hear Ken is still around.

x2.  I've been lurking quite a bit myself

@ Rollguy:  how can you be so sure?  How do you know he's not using a computer at another site?  If you're going on his IP address, he can change out his NIC card and then renew his IP address.  Or have like 3-4 pc's running at home.

It's not impossible.

If he is a member here it would have to be under a different name, which is entirely possible, but he would not have any admin or moderator (very limited number) privileges as those are being closely watched on a daily basis.

He can lurk all he wants.  Only three people can grant any kind of moderation/admin privileges and those are discussed in detail before any are granted.

Ken had a procedure done recently.  Paula says that so far, so good.  He is also been working with the web developers more than he has been on here.  Kind of let Gil and I run the ship at the moment -- kind of scary, huh?

Scary? not at all.  Back in the old days that is how it was (I E and Gil at the controls), and it was a great time to own and service an Eagle. I remember the best time I had ever spent on ANY forum was during that time. Scary, NO! Fun and filled with excitement at what it will become?- YES!

Well I for one had ( and still have) no idea what is going on anywhere. I actually found this site on accident and now I'm glad I did. Been wondering a long time what ever happened with I. E. and how he was. Don't know who Steve is or what happened with "that" whole thing or whatever you guys are talking about. I always went on and checked out the unread posts but there must have been something I missed to not realize what must have been going on.

I think most/some people are just un aware of this site maybe? I didn't ever sign up for this site, but my login and password are here? That was a little weird. How do we tell how many actual people are signed up for this site then if there information was just drug over here?

Its a long story regarding actual ownership of the Nest content.  But, yes, the original information was "drug" over here, at least what was left after some "great deletes" at the nest..  Now that we are on wordpress and have a bit different looking format we are going to work to retrieve some old stuff and add new stuff.  Of course as this site becomes more active we will gain member input to further make it not be a nest clone.

I've been wrapped up in cleaning out my excess projects (just got rid of a '66 Travelall and '89 Comanche) and forgot this place was around.
AMC/Jeep gauges are for amusement only. Any correlation between them and reality is purely coincidental!

Long story short, I hope.  A while back Steve asked Ken to help out financially.  Ken took over ownership of the site to help out.  Steve still had issues with keeping things going and continuing to have a heavy hand in running things.  Ken said, enough is enough, and moved everything over, with my blessing as I really owned the original site, to this site.

Alright, I think I got it.

Basically if the Nest comes back up, it wont really be the Nest, so I should stick with this place and the Evo place.

Alright, I think I got it.

Basically if the Nest comes back up, it wont really be the Nest, so I should stick with this place and the Evo place.

sadly the nest is never going to be the nest again as long as their is a person pulling the strings that thinks of it as a way to make money rather than a group of people to help each other out and enjoy a common hobby

I wonder if one of the admins can send a mass email to all members letting them know about the change and inviting them to return to the Den. I thought most forums had an option for the admins to send out messages to the emails people used to sign up in cause of maintenance and other things like that.

That is an option here, which I think should be left to ie, or vangremlin to send out.

Yes, we do have that option.  It works once in awhile but not often.

I think he means by how the den just appeared out of no where. I don't know if he saw the forum while it was the nest, but I think it would be safe to say that it was on the road to self distruction, hence why a member had this site created

Well I'm reading the post on evo and it seems like the den showed up out of no where.  It just seems wierd to me that the site was found one day. I knew about the nest, but I just thought you or someone made this one after the fallout.  I dind't know that you guys just found it.  it almost seems creepy how you guys went about it at first.  some people were scared of the den.

OK -- nothing creepy.  Basically, the old Nest with many of the familiar folks helping to keep it going.  And, lots of new folks to insure a bright future.

It took me a while to figure out what was happening with the nest.  I was hesitant to participate in the Den until I saw IowaEagle, and some of the other familiar member.  So I figured all was safe.
