Tach wire under the hood?
« on: February 08, 2013, 10:59:16 PM »
So I dissconnected all this stuff 3 years ago, anybody know what color and approx location of the tach wire?

I installed hei dist

I think I read somewhere on here it was green and yellow?

My tach actually works, I may also have one of the last few remaining analog clocks (in the cluster by the shifter) that still works as well, don't know why

Any help or pics equals many thanks

On the factory tachs, the yellow wire goes to a switched positive 12 volts, and the green wire just goes to the negative side of the coil. On hei distributors, there should be a tach terminal that you can plug the green wire to.

yup the tach plugs in right beside the power wire in the HEI dist.  you can ither use a female spade terminal to plug it in or get a factory style pigtail plug that locks on the dist from jegs or summit and spice onto the green wire
