Hitch options

Can some of you post a pic or two of your hitch, what you took it off of, how you modified it?

I have one of the factory bumper mount ones, have never put it on, I'm not sure it's very strong,

I don't want to tow anything huge, have a little trailer to haul stuff, maybe tow another eagle home  ;)

Rob, I have a hitch that I made for my Eagle that is sitting in the shed. It's a bolt on on deal. Next time we get together I'll bring it and see if you want  to use it. I've towed 2,000 lbs with it without an issue.

Edit- Now that I think about it, I might have stole some of the steel from the hitch for another project. I'll check when I get home from work tomorrow and see if it's still intact.

Sorry I don't have pics anymore of the one I had custom made (4 point mount which said Class 4 but they said it was really class 2 until I upgraded the frame in my trunk) I hauled this bus I turned into a trailer with mine. (top pic)


It weighed 5,000lbs empty and nearly 5 tons loaded (I didn't take it on the highway) for swap meets. I replaced that Eagle with the '83 Cherokee in the bottom pic and used the Mexican 282 motor that was in my Eagle (it was one of the very first stroker motors in '97)

Mine was similar to that but had 2 legs that went to either side of the frame too. I put a skid plate for the fuel tank on it.

We used 2 forklifts to move the body on the tandem axle trailer frame (I removed the bus frame and cut it down by 3,000 lbs empty including the Bus axle) The guys at Tork Lift are professional trailer and hitch builders.

That's the same one I got from U-Haul a few years back. Very heavy duty, I had no worries towing with that.
