Title: Cylinder Head Flatness Spec. Confusion
Post by: djm3452004 on April 18, 2022, 08:09:08 PM
Hi All --

I'm having a bit of trouble interpreting the service manual's flatness specification for cylinder heads (6 cyl).  Can you all please take a look at the attached image and let me know your opinions?

0.001", 0.002" or somehow up to 0.006" or 0.008"?  It's a very curious way of explaining the allowable variation, unless they're talking about a side-to-side or end-to-end situation.

Thanks in advance!

David

My manual 72 for 258 says .008 for full length of head .002 in 6 inch or .001 in 1 inch which is the same as what the 1980 manual says. Just printed differently. 0.001/1.0in .002/6in .008 fuel length

Thank you, that definitely clarifies!  Much-appreciated!
