Rocker arm pivots
« on: October 13, 2016, 05:16:37 PM »
It's been quite a while, & I'm finally getting back to it.  Pulled the Al cover bec of a noise that seemed ta be comin from there, removed a set of arms ta find off-white, 'delrin'/nylon? pivots.  Huh?  Seemed ta be a 'lot'? of back/forward movement, & I couldn't find any info about them, so, I figed someone here must know something about them.  Are they a noise reduction idea?  Replace them?  With metal?  Arms & pivots?

Thx

Ditto on what Mudkicker said.   I've never seen such a thing, and I've been messing with AMC's for decades.    I'd also like to see a pic!

I'll post a pic tmrow.  Even checked a jeep joint, & they never heard of.  Does it matter that the mtr has hyd lifters?  It appears ta be a stk, finned, Al cover.  No after mkt drilling. I'll also verify the yr on the title. Thx

Duh me.  No such things.  It was dark, & I hadn't wiped off the creamy condensated oil

Now, back ta gettin her runnin & find that noise that I didn't like.  Sounded like something knockin on the Al cover.  Took a bit ta get her started; new motorcraft, blew out the fuel line, new pump, filter, and got my new hei a few days ago, but not installed.  Gear conflict from what I read

Thx

hi, if you bought a decent HEI, as in from DUI or CRT, there should be no gear problem, good luck, gz

Well, started to close her up tstrdy, wrong gasket.  Was for plastic cover, & Al cover gasket @ CarQuest was $36.55, Felpro, 'rubber' encased metal.  Now that shouldn't leak
