Fun activities / Found a Somewhat Special 'Eagle' Coin
« Last post by Illeagle1984 on March 27, 2023, 06:10:48 PM »
Got a US quarter in my change.  Our 60's soda machine wouldn't take it, which is normal.  It's old, it takes a few tries for certain quarters to take.  I have to mention, that old machine rocks.  Sodas get colder the hotter it is out; during summer the thing spits out slushies!  I'm guessing the weight is off on this quarter; it didn't take no matter how many times I tried it.  That's because this one has two tails, aka a 'double eagle.'  I took pictures, but I could never get both sides at once so you'll have to take my word for it.  ;D

If it were real, it would be worth a small fortune and I wouldn't be telling anyone about it.  However, upon close examination it's a forgery; someone made a 'cup' out of one and cut down the other to fit inside the shell.  A soldered seam is barely visible on one side.  It turns out they are also sold as magician's coins, or trick coins.

I recognize the time and skill it took to make such a thing.  So instead of buying a third of a soda with it, I will keep my strange 'double eagle' coin to go with my pair of strange Eagles.

Wow I'm amazed at the quality of the work. A little pricey $945 for refinishing, plus I spent $670 on the tires, $24 for lug nuts and $150 for NOS centre caps. But WOW love the look.

You must pull the torque converter and look at the input shaft of the transmission.  If it has a smooth end, it has lockup.  If it is splined to the end of the shaft, it is non-lockup. :)

hi, I just stripped a 1985 Eagle wagon Limited for parts. Have the trans/Tcase assembly out. Is there any way to tell if this is a Lockup or non Lockup trans just from exterior clues? Thanks,  gz

Tried for the last week but it seems either my Wal-Mart isn't stocking them or the earlybirds are picking them out when the store opens.
I checked 3 Walmarts here, none to be found. I suspect Canada is not the top priority for getting new stock. I'm not paying inflated pricing so I'll just wait and keep checking Walmart for one.
