Project: Eagle part-out

 I am parting out my SX4 in order to use some parts on another project (M B 300D 4X4), and to sell the engine and trans along with my other SX4 body (new paint job). I am doing the job at a friends place that has a nice shop with a lift and tools.  My friend and I brought the car over yesterday and placed it ready to do the work:


I removed all the fasteners holding the frame to the body, and also the gas tank:


I used the lift to help remove the door:


After everything was disconnected, I repositioned the arms to the body in order to lift it from the frame:


A little higher:


Body high enough to roll the frame out:


Frame out of the way:


More later, as I need to bring my trailer in to load up the body. Stay tuned.....Rich

Just a note for the newbies. That is NOT an Eagle frame you see being rolled out of there!

Yes it is a custom made frame/air tank for onboard air system.

I placed my trailer under the car and found out there was no way to set it down inside the side rails, so I set it on a ladder and some stands and re-positioned the arms to the roof of the car:

If we didn't mention that it wasn't an Eagle frame then we would get the "what body lift will fit my Eagle?" Threads going again. ;)

That someone would be ME.  I am going to use the frame and suspension for another project.  I have an MB 300D that will become my new rock crawler.  It will not be plagued with carburetor problems like the Carter'd 258, as it will be fuel injected (Diesel)......Rich

I wanted to be easier to fabricate the frame, so I turned the body over and fabricated the frame using the underside of the body as the fixture. It turned out to be the best way.  Any other way, I would have had to weld upside-down, and that is no fun.  For the new project, I am going to do the opposite.  I have the bottom section of a 300D that I cut off a wrecked car.  I am going to set it on top of the frame (only weighs about 200 lbs) and fabricate mounts to the 300D body. Then all I have to do is lift the 300D body and remove all the suspension, and then roll the frame underneath and bolt it on (that is the plan anyway!).....Rich

Progress today.  My friend and I stripped the Eagle to the bare bones!  We removed every useable part that we could.  Here are some photos:

We had to strip the car so I could use my trailer to bring back the rolling chassis from my thrashed Eagle. The drivetrain needed to be pulled first, and installed in the good body:



I already have a buyer for the Eagle project.  It will be going to Austria (If everything goes right). 
As far as all the parts that have been removed, I will be selling/giving them away except for the parts that are deemed to be scrap (dented/bent moldings, heater core, etc).   A couple things I know for sure I am putting up for auction are the hood pull (perfect shape), headlight buckets, complete wire harness, and sunroof.  All of the other parts are up for grabs at no cost except for shipping.....Rich

Looks like y'all picked her as clean as you could. But might should've grabbed to rear side windows, hate seeing the glass on any of these getting destroyed.

I did pull them.  The photo was taken before.  The photo of the forklift removing the car from the trailer has the fork going through the window hole.  I am bumbed that I did not save the pedal assembly.  I got over to my friends shop where the other car and chassis are, and it appears that the pedal assembly is missing (I bought the car that way).  I now need one for the car to be drivable...Rich
