Wobbling Lower control Arm Bushings

An inspection last year found both I had a cracked control arm and the bushings that I had replaced in 2019 were wobbling around in their seats, creating popping and clinking noises. I replaced both lower control arms and had two new bushings pressed in and the problem almost immediately came back.

I know that AMC never intended you to replace these bushings and that to press them in and out, you need to make a spacer for the inside of the control arm or else you'll collapse them. Even though I was careful the last time the noises while mostly cosmetic (No idea if I left this to roll around on the bushings for 15 years is a good idea) is annoying. Birdman had the same issue and tried adding a few tack welds to hold the bushing to the control arm and that stopped the noises but the heat ruins the rubber. I'm planning to go in and refurbish the front-end once the snow melts but are there any good ideas how to stop it from happening?

I don't think there is anything wrong with a small tack weld on the edge of the bushing face. That is a pretty common practice and some brands have a flat spot ground just for that purpose. Our spring perch bushing have a tack weld on them.

That said, my recommendation would be to weld some new steel plates to the inside of the control arm so you can have some fresh, correctly sized holes for the bushing. Sounds like the original holes are deformed and there's no easy way to fix that.
