The Elusive Eagle (almost)
« on: June 04, 2012, 08:34:55 PM »
I was recently out in the San Francisco area, and I told my son I was on the hunt for the Elusive Eagle - you know, an almost rust free California Eagle that someone was practically giving away.  I checked the C-List while I was out there with no luck, but kept my eyes open for the Elusive Eagle.

I was afraid the Eagle was going to totally elude me, when one day, while we were visiting a winery near Calistoga,
I came outside and there it was -  a beautiful California Eagle - almost.  It turned out to be a Concord that was in great shape, here are some photos.  And all the Eagles did elude me, I guess they didn't want to move to Colorado.

Were all the Concords sedans? I saw one like that in Lakewood a few months ago but didn't think anything about the different packages IF they were available. I was too focused on the Hornet across from it.

Then the real elusive bird is the 4 door wagon. Just the sight of these things beg for 4WD. Period.

Wow!!! What a great looking Concord! And it was an elusive Fleet car it looks like...no Opera Window.

Not a fleet car, as it has the vinyl roof, and because it's either a DL or a Limited model as it has the square badge (looks like it says DL but not sure). Also, the opera window wasn't available on the 4 door sedans until 1980, and this a 1979 model.

That aside, that car looks fantastic. I wish my Concord looked that nice.
