That's why I said you have to unplug the stepper first after turning the ignition key to on, but before starting the motor cold.
AMC/Jeep gauges are for amusement only. Any correlation between them and reality is purely coincidental!

OK thanks. I kinda thought it was bypassed because when it was assembled and driving i unplugged the stepper and never re plugged it in and there was 0 effect on functionality. Currently shes still in a million pieces so i think ill go ahead and clear the stepper and its associated wiring before reassembly.
