Title: New Manifold?? Corroded leaking bypass hose
Post by: trucker79005 on February 21, 2019, 02:21:15 PM
Hi all! Looks like I might be the only one fighting with this. Looked in my TSM and not finding anything. wondering about the pipe on the intake manifold where the bypass coolant hose goes. Is it part of the manifold or a separate part? I have cleaned off corrosion the best I can and put new hose and new clamps on and coolant is streaming out at the manifold. Any ideas?

Separate part - part number J3142368 "Nipple".

Thanks for that! Any clue how to replace it? Really didn't see any mention in the tsm.
Also did a quick search and it doesn't seem to be available. Didn't call Kennedy american or anything like that. Just a Google search for the moment.

It just unscrews (well, depending on how badly its corroded in there!).   You could probably come up with a brass fitting at the hardware store.   I probably a couple of extra used ones somewhere if you don't have any luck finding one (or lashing up something from the hardware store).

If it's leaking where it meets the manifold it may be rotted through and could twist off. That's when the real fun starts. Try a small pipe wrench to unscrew the pipe. If you get it out then , like Houston said, take it to the plumbing section at the hardware store. Get some pipe tape while you are there and wrap the threads with 2 or 3 wraps. That should stop the leaks. IF the pipe twists off  , then you have to get an EZ-OUT and try to get the rest of it out.
