Turbo-charging the 258 cu. in. engine

Has anyone done or seen the 258 cu. in. engine turbo-charged? Have 2 headers for this engine and flipping 180 degs. and could fab. a mounting flange for the turbo. could put the inter-cooler in the front next to the radiator.
Using a 350 Holley carb and a HEI.
Stout motor anyway with only 12,000 miles on it!

Same as doing a 4.0L
AMC/Jeep gauges are for amusement only. Any correlation between them and reality is purely coincidental!

They sell a blower kit for the 4.0. That would be cool too.

I own a 1979 AMC Pacer Limited Hatchback with a code C 258 2 bbl I-6 Motor and a torque command automatic transmission on the column. Alpaca Brown with a Tan Interior.

A member here turbo charged his years ago, before the forum was started, but I don't think he posted much info on it. He wound up installing a V8.
The PPG AMC AMX was turbo charged. I remember seeing it at the Cleveland Grand Prix back in the 80's but it was fuel injected.

Believe it or not, it looks like it has a Mercedes Benz fuel injection system (fuel distributor and throttle body).

I have a meet each June. This past June 2014 a young guy showed up in his Eagle wagon with a new turbo unit that he had just installed. It was done well and fairly complicated. He had the advantage of his father owning a speed shop that often installed custom turbo units and custom exhausts.

Phil was there and he got quite a few pictures. Maybe he'll notice this post and put them here. My pictures are buried.

Hi. Matt here. I would love to see photos of that set up.
I just looked out the window. My 79 AMC Pacer is hibernating until spring. I fire up the 258 every couple of weeks.
