AMC Bolt Pattern
« on: August 31, 2015, 08:41:39 AM »
I was recently looking on ebay at older amc center caps and hubcaps. I noticed a set that particularly interested me, but the top of the listing read: fits 1970 - 1980 AMC's. Did amc change their bolt pattern after '80? If so, will only amc wheel stuff made after 80 fit my '85?

If its hubcaps AMC used mostly 14' wheels prior to 1980

Eagles use a 15" wheel

If its the wheels themselves the bolt patterns are the same across all cars

If you're talking about the "volcano" center caps, the bolt pattern was different for use on the 14" versus 15" wheels.   However, some later production caps (along with the repops Bruce Rahlf sells) had bolt holes for both patterns.

Keep in mind the 2wd AMC cars use a different wheel offset call mid drive (1/2 way between front wheel drive 2/3rds offset and rear wheel drive centered wheels) If you can get RWD rims on, you will NOT like how it handles over 20mph! It feels like your tierods are coming loose or worse!
AMC/Jeep gauges are for amusement only. Any correlation between them and reality is purely coincidental!
